Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm doing a diploma in Mechanical Engineering in IT Tallaght. I did my cert there p/t as well, four evenings a week for three years - the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life (not the course content, just the dicipline required to attend each evening). Best thing I ever did though!!!

The discipline required is one advantage of distance learning over part time, though it works both ways too.
Some people need the push of having to go to college others are too tired/too lazy or oging to miss something if they do.

I'm doing a certificate in managing organisations in the community and voluntary sector in NCI

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hi all, I am trying to get onto an evening network + course, I have rang around a few colleges and I found a course starting in the next 2 weeks or so. My only question is the course fees, when I rang up I was told that I could claim back the tax, anyone know how I can go about this?

I do not know what I am doing and I do not know what to do either. I work in the technology section of a leading Mobile company in Ireland. To be honest i think all the courses available are crap. I would like to go back and maybe do a computer science diploma but I dont think I will be able for the maths. I have been looking for courses in telecommunications but nightcourses.com has zero, they come back with 8 results that are all about alarm installation. I am even thinking I might do a course in business studies, just can not for the life of me decide which is the best way forward. Any ideas on anything good out there to do?

I'm begining a part-time masters in Assistive Technology in DIT in September. I'm a little bit anxious about juggling my full time job with the part-time masters. My job really demands alot of hours from me. But hopefully it'll be ok. :)

I'm in the same boat Crisps. I'm starting a two year part time grad dip in translation and editing, and I have a hectic full time job. Here's to hoping!

Exact same here guys. Working full-time job also very busy, while doing Masters in Management (UCD Smurfit Business School) also.... it means a lot of juggling, studying late into night... you just do what you have to do but sacrifices must be made. The time flies thought, we'll get there

I'm just about to start the PT, BA in Psychology in DBS. I'm so scared at facing into 4 years + of studying but I'm guessing it'll be worth it in the end.
Are any of the posters who mentioned studying the same course still posting here??? How do you find it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 955 ✭✭✭Scruffles

doing this course at home PT:
    http://www.asdan.org.uk/Award_Programmes/Towards_Independence
we have an inhouse tutor [am living in a residential home for people with severe or profound autism].
had had a say in the modules as its all tailored to a persons likes, strengths and difficulties.

is BA degree level or masters?
the sister did her pyschology degree full time but never even got any junior level job with it,she ended up changing her plans and becoming a councilor/therapist instead in drug addiction, and she said it was her previous job in working with supporting people with severe mental illness and addictions that got her that job not the degree.
honestly thought what was the point in getting into debt for something she isnt even able to make use of?

she coudnt afford to do the masters,so if it that which are doing,is it definitely something that want to be paying out for-is there going to be the payback for it,and will there be jobs at the end of it?

part time is probably a better decision,in terms of money as will be able to get money that way to whether through job or benefits.
