Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sounds like someone called someone's bluff.

"Very soon we are going to Mars. You wouldn't have been going to Mars if my opponent won, that I can tell you. You wouldn't even be thinking about it."

    Donald Trump, March 13th 2018.

    No, it's a firefight.
    The ramming was earlier today.

Apparently the russkies have closed off the Kerch Strait to shipping.

Unfinished business between these two that's going to come a violent head sooner or later. Don't envy the Ukrainians as they don't stand a chance on their own and the West won't go to war on their behalf either.

The Russians have blocked off the Kerch Strait by parking a large cargo ship under the Crimea bridge.

This is an unlawful blockade. Things could get messy here unfortunately.

Ukraine could have joined NATO in 2010 but their president pulled out. Bet they wish they hadn't done that now.

Expect nothing to happen not with trump working for Putin ,
They have forces in the area ,but expect Putin to demand an emergency UN security council meeting demanding an investigation into crimes against russia , meanwhile russians forces grab more land under the guise of protecting poor russians from the big bad Ukrainians

Nothing else the Russians have done in Ukraine got messy fast, that includes the shooting down of a passenger plane. This seems more of the same.

I need a fill of oil - is the price likely to go up in the very near future?!

Appeasment will only provide temporary relief. Russia will be encouraged and moreso throw its weight around. Ukraine needs to stand firm. With hopefully intetnational support.

President Obama didn't intervene to stop Russia's annexation of Crimea. I wonder what Trump will say.

I must dust off my old copy of The Day After.

I wonder how big a deal it really is, fighting at the front with the 'separatists' never stopped the last years, there's an exchange of fire every single day that's usually worse than this

This is a direct military confrontation between two state powers. When was the last time that happened in the region. Georgia?

I wonder what else Russia would be trying if NATO as we know it didn't exist and places like the Baltic states had little protection. People talk about EU integration being a bad thing, but it looks pretty rosy if the alternative is Russia pushing into Europe, or entering into economic domination by the U.S. or China.

Sure. Of course the reverse could also be asked.

I just think it's unfortunate that the world is stuck in the global power play of the 19th century, rather than working together to face up to the great global problems of the 21st century. But here we are.
