Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Use code One4All789 here http://www.irishtimes.com/redeem/voucher

Hitting redeem and next page says - We could not find the product your were looking for.

Where does one go from there?

The voucher code needs to be written in caps otherwise it wont work for you.

    ONE4ALL789 works

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,958 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

Sorry about that, I corrected my post so the code is now all capitals. It worked fine for me.

Cos it's a good paper. People give out about gutter journalism but won't pay for the decent stuff. If the IT goes we're left with the Denis O'Brien and Rupert Murdoch controlled press as well as the Daily Mail. Give me the IT any day over that rubbish.

If you just want endless anti trump soapboxing, and or an ongoing vendetta against white cisgender males you could always try boards.ie for free?

Some gibberish in the IT these days. We're badly stuck for decent media here.

Sorry may not be explaining this right but I have an IT app on my phone. I downloaded it almost a year ago. I dont pay for it, never have, it has headlines, news, business, sport, debate, weather and trending sections. It doesnt have crossword or crosaire but then again I prefer to do those on print.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 721 ✭✭✭Sixtoes

So let me get this straight...
It's free and it's available in the app store?

The app is free to download, but you are limited to reading 20 articles per week as a non-subscriber. It's similar to the website version (where the limit is 10 articles, I think).

Yep, get loads in there uber, messenger for example and then others you pay for.

Not sure that paying half price for something that is available for free counts as a bargain.

Lots of newspaper websites have limits on number or articles that can be read on free version. Usually 10 per week. In practice if you are getting your news from multiple sources you will go nowhere near this limit.

Because it isn't available for free.

Yep. I have a few apps for newspapers and the Zinio app which I use in conjunction with my library membership gives an even further spread of papers and magazines.

I didn't sub to it but you don't have unlimited access like the subbed version from what I gather.

you are limited to 15 articles per week with the free app and 10 articles on your PC which is probably enough for a lot of people.

You are factually incorrect. Access to more than 15 articles requires payment. Access to epaper also requires payment.

Also limited access has been applied to independent.ie (and some U.K. Papers)

Ah yes - but the Indo is pure muck. Thanks for the BA OP - signed up yesterday. There's an ePaper app for iPhone in case anyone likes their news the older fashioned way...

If you open each article in a private tab it's unlimited.

There could be a limit but I found that if you open an article directly from google then it will always display. But good to have someone support these enterprises.

€8 for 12 months(0.15 cent per week) doesn't even seem the hassle of workarounds.

    Thanks OP.. Bought

No, private browsing/incognito mode, just click settings and you'll see it there somewhere though Im surprised if thats all it takes to get by them counting how many articles you've viewed.

I thought it was 8 per month?
Your subscription will be billed €8 per month for the first 12 months and €16 per month thereafter

To be clear, the half price offer seems to be €8 per month for 12 months (i.e. 96 euro in total) rather than €8 for the full 12 months.

Still puzzled as to why people on this thread consider paying €96 for something that is available free to be a "bargain" And saying stuff like "But it's not unlimited if I don't pay €96 " (when it kinda is and they would never use the theoretical limit anyway)
To be frank I think they're suckers.

My bad..I missed the small print:)

Still at €2 a week it's still a deal. I'd normally buy one or 2 newspapers a week.

The main advantage of a subscription is that you get the e-paper.

It is limited if it is 'free'. Some people a newspaper cover to cover. If you read all the business articles for a day, you have used up your weekly allowance.

If people want quality journalism, you are going to have to pay for it. Other we will only be left with the likes of thejournal.ie or a paper owned by a certain billionaire with everything robbed off another paper or heavily edited to suit the 'shareholders values'. I personally think supporting an independent news source for €8 per month is a bargain. Otherwise we might be left with no independent newspapers

It's not always about the exact story that's reported, they tend to have much better analysis of social and political issues than other papers. The debate that's spawned from that very often sets the news agenda as much as the "breaking headlines". I think most people who read the IT look to it for that more than for novel news stories.
