A little mouse came into the kitchen the other day, it will not leave, I have a dog and a cat , it has the cheek to squeak back at the dog . I would prefer not to kill it as the snap traps are inhumane, any other way apart from the tube traps which i will get tomorrow, we live near fields so often get them around, there seems to be so many around at the moment, much more than usual. thanks in advance.

Just let it be they don't eat much.

No thanks, want it out, not around food, their urine stinks to high heavens, we had hamsters when the kids were small.

Humane trap then and set it free. Trip trap theyre called I think.

Peanut butter (not cheese) in a humane trap does the trick every time. They can't resist it.

Then you can put the little fella outside. No need to kill.

Thread moved to DIY, as vermin control threads aren't permitted in A&PI. Please note that a different charter now applies.
    Thanks,

I have a few and like to think they work but to be honest I'm probably kidding myself. I have one in a shed that I also have a bait station in, if those plugs work why do I have to keep topping up the bait station?

    Earmuffs ? 😃
I think theses devices will discourage them from coming in, but if they are there already it takes a bit more effort.
Get a device that changes output frequency e.g.

I look at it this way, they are getting a warning but they are still welcome to come in and eat the poison if they want to.

Sonic stuff is absolutely useless. I've seen a mouse climb over one that was in his way.

Get rid of it quickly, or you'll soon have a tribe of them.

Then have a stern word with your cat and dog.

tbh I only leave it plugged in because we have 4 of them and its just easier to leave it plugged in :o

Talked to a guy before, he says the sonic stuff works if you have no mice/rats in the house. It will deter them from coming in. If they are already in you are wasting you time.

I know I got a little friend years ago and bought them, found him sitting beside it in house....

The most recent mouse, trap and mars bar, they love chocolate.....

Have a mouse issue as well but I’m showing no mercy - 7 caught in snap traps so far, 2 were still alive after trapping so got a hammer over the skull to finish them off. Still have 1 or 2 that are a bit more difficult to catch but I’ll be moving to poison bait next and just hope I can find the bodies :D . Stay away from the sonic speakers, they are useless if they are already in the house.

Poison is a mess, they will crawl up into some space and you will just get a smell.....they never run out into the middle of room and drop dead...the little feckers.....

Trap with mars bar on them, put all other food in house into plastic containers and they will get hungry and head to traps.

Good advice, will try that out. Thank you :) I’m tormented with them at this stage, about one step away from torturing the next live catch in ear shot of anything else that might be hiding.

All the food in plastic containers is the quickest way.....also hoover everything, press etc the lot....starve them so they head for the lovely tasty

If you have that many I'd check how they're getting in, must be an access point somewhere. Had a similar number once until I found a gap where a gas pipe was entering the house, once sealed never had another issue. Remember a hole the width of a biro is enough for them.
