Tablet under €250

Hi,

Looking to buy a relatively cheap tablet. Not looking for a hugely powerful one. One that will play videos, allows me to browse, and has a decent battery on it.
Found this one below anybody got any exp with it?

In my opinion that is not really a very good tablet because:Its running gingerbread 2.3(outdated).I have also been looking at some tablets and for your price range there are many top class tablets.

I think this is one of the best tablets out there and for 154 euro and free shipping its a steal.

Sorry @vicwatson,at the moment I don't know anything about the charges but I have messaged the company and I will let you know later.
Another tablet I have seen is the Cube U9GT2.

I must be blind, but did it say the screen size anywhere on that article? I was looking at getting a HP Touchpad second hand. Would I be better off waiting for this?

Would the spec difference between be that great?

We'll find out in a few days, Google should be doing the big official announcement in a few days.

Personally, I'd say wait a little bit more before purchasing an older tablet, when you could potentially get a far far better one for the same price.

For a tablet under €250 I'd recommend the BlackBerry PlayBook.

They're around €200 new, great for Web browsing, they support flash, and the OS is rock solid.

App store is limited, but that's set to change with the Android app player that makes it easy for developers to port their apps to the PlayBook, and to be honest, I pretty much only use mine for Web browsing.

Last about a day of very heavy use on a full battery.

I got a second hand one on ebay for €120, you might find something similar.

so many things about tablets confuse me... why oh why do they have a rear facing camera... i understand the front face.. at least you can use skype etc.. but taking photos with it.. i mean seriously... seems rediculous to me.

as for quad core.. 2 cores should be fine imo... just the speed would count then i guess.. most apps/games/programs still arent optimised for more than 2 cores (imo) or even one as they dont usually have issues or need for more, but the extra oompf then really helps from the individual power no?
android is good at closing programs until required too so you wont be doing loads of stuff in the background at once... just my 2c..
that google nexus tab looks too good to pass up though at ~200 euro. resolution is pretty neat for a handheld, i generally dont want terribly high res so long as it can be right and visible in a bit of sun if needed with good contrast etc...

I never got a reply from the company and there is nothing on the website to indicate what the charges will be,although I would estimate it to be max 60euro extra charges.

The technical specs look good on those tablets(CPU,etc)but one thing that would really turn me off them is that they both have resistive screens as opposed to the capacitive screens that the upper end tablet(ipad,galaxy tab) have.

archos 101 G9 (10 inch, great media support, full android market) think it is about €250 in powercity, amazon might be cheaper.

You think that you'd get away with using resistive touch. I mean, it has to function as a touchscreen, how bad can it be? But seriously, it's terrible. Really unresponsive, inaccurate to where you press, and it requires that you overpress, as opposed to just touching on a capacitive screen. Also, resistive touch doesn't support multitouch, which is fairly useful.

PC World/Currys currently have the Archos Arnova 10b G3 for under €180

10.1 inch 16:9 ratio multi-touch capacitive screen

Comes running ICS and can easily be flashed with custom firmware for full Play Store access

Friend picked one up at the weekend. Good tablet for the money IMO.

Most seem to be very impressed, think I may get one, although would rather a larger screen. But those specs for that price ain't too bad I suppose.

That Arnova is now €159 in HMV. Personally I wouldn't take it as it has no HDMI out but if this isin't a concern it seems to be reasonably good value at this price.

Last week. Got my hands on one for €240 in Dublin airport.

Screen a bit small though.

Probably going for Toshiba AT300 10.1" myself - €399 seems to be one of the best (non IPADs) out there. Esp with HDMI and Quad Core Tegra 3 processor.
