Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Right, after several conversations at reunions and much doing of the time warp without music in the middle of the green, it was discovered that a large core of the reunion going CTYIers are Rocky Horror fans. Alas, however, it's too late for use to descend en masse on the Classic Cinema. After much frenzied research (by which I mean half an hour on google) it was discovered that there is a showing of it on May 7th in Belfast

So, is anyone else up for it?

    the story so far:
we will be organising a group to go up, we will probably get the bus to Belfast from Dublin at 4pm (bout €15 return). We will stay here at a cost of about €10 each. and get the bus back at 2pm the next day. We are still working on finding out the price of the tickets to the show, which is on here.

I'm a big Rocky Horror fan. I won't be going on the trip. I think we should suggest it as a disco theme next this year. Failing that, have a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed day.

When? No dates have been mentioned.

CTYI. Youth. Which, in the eyes of the organisers, is not compatible with transvestites, sex, stockings, corruption, hot pants and in fact anything fun :D
Dude, they wouldn't even let us have holiday theme days, nm a mardi gras theme day, and that was ONLY because of the tranny bit. Keep trying though, I did.

Nosmo: stop being so bitter :D

And possibly the predominance of flashing in mardi gras culture...ness

in fairness the object to the cross-dressig last year was based on keeping the DCU staff (who seem to fscking hate us) on good terms, not really the decision of the administration.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 602 ✭✭✭edibility

Course they hate us. We're talented and therefore victimised *weep* And zounds: I was the ambassador for the session one holiday theme days, and it was Sheila and Colm who banned them, the rest of the staff (including Angela) liked the idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

well when the cross-dressing day was banned halfway through Colm came into and basicallly apoligised to the people who they had made go change

So did any of you guys regularly go to the Classic? Our Friday nights were ruined when that thing closed down. Sounds damned fun, see you there! And for anyine interested, all the crazy kids who were in the classic production are trying to set up a new Dublin one. It's been going OK, we think it'll be on in Andrew's Lane, but we ain't sure of anything yet.

I used to go. What fun. Fridays will never be the same.
And as for the revival groups, I know of three different ressurection efforts.. Whether people will a) stick at it and b) be any good remains to be seen

I never went, when I was younger my then best friend and I had this whole plan that we'd go and dress up when we were older. Crazy 11 year olds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

I went a few times to the Classic, so much fun! Only really started going in the last summer before it closed down though. :(

DCU staff hate CTYI and always will. To them we are little annoyances who seem to have our heads firmly wedged up our asses. CTYIers were by no means the worst in my experiences though. Those Italians were a nightmare. "If you wanna use the hall then pay like everyone else ya cheap gits, not sneak in the back door."

ah yes, the classic...my 1st time was the last night :(
twas deeeeadly, but yeah, sounds like a good plan, but shant the plucky revivalers be up and running by this may date? and is anyone organising this? do peeps goin give moneyt to john/aonghus and they organise travel etc, or just seperate? it'd be a mad aul laugh, but is it worth it for a belfast rocky showing? itd be cheaper just to watch he dvd at someone's house and dance etc..

Oh wow that was so much fun! I must be the approachable type though cos I had at least four complete strangers come up to me and ask me what was going on, were we promoting a product or something

How come they wouldn't let you have the CTYI holidays during the sessions though? We had a Mardi Gras in 2003, I wore my Playboy bunny costume (and had to suffer the Italian students calling out "Helloooo Bridget Jooones")

*Bangs head off desk* how does the fact that you kow him negate the fact that you dragged up an old thread praytell, and yes, it was an old thread, and you've done it again! If you know him, talk to him in person! Don't do it in *this* thread!
