Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As an atheist I find this disturbing. I respect all religion and peoples right to practice, but this doesn't sit right with me.

    Odd.

Meh...harmless stuff really. They're just overly religious and devote themselves to God.

A nun is the spouse of Christ. It's been a thing since nuns were invented.

I'm an atheist too but I don't see this as any different to becoming a nun. It's strange but they're not harming anyone.

I've a problem with religions when they harm other people and promote homophobia etc.

Just a nun who doesn't want to live in a convent and only get to keep pocket money.

    Jesus... a mormon?... a muslim?
    What hope have we now?

Isn't that what a Nun is? A bride of Christ but in this case an every day person without the penance in a convent?

Even when regular people get married in a church the idea is that 'God' is there to bear witness to it.

Nice looking woman too, what a waste.

Hopefully less of a waste of a life than taking vows in a convent. At least this way she's still free to work and contribute to society.

Nuns work, harder than most folk.

    eg

The orders care for their own sick and elderly, make altar bread, pray, are self sufficient, care for needy folk physically and mentally..

and the real work of a consecrated virgin is prayer

    Yeah, prayer - real work.

But I'd only find this disturbing if it were forced on people. It's odd and likely symptomatic of deeper issues but if she's only doing it to herself by choice, then that's a-ok in my opinion.
