Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

17 year old female. Would be looking to join this summer after the LC. Would they take me? From what I've heard, most clubs only care to train kids who have a career in boxing ahead of em.

Also, I dropped all my sport this year so my fitness is kinda gone. Any hope for me?

    Hi,

Just to let you know that anybody is thinking of coming to UCD this year or is studying in UCD already there is a boxing club in College. Must of our members are complete beginners but we are also very interested in more experienced boxers.

Our website is www.ucd.ie/boxing If you sign up to the website you can have a look at our vids and pics which I will be updating over the next few weeks.

The club is open to current UCD students. Unfortunately we can't take non-UCD members because of insurance reasons.

If you want to contact me, Charlie, my details are on the site.

If there are any boxers out there competing a provincial or national/international level you might be interested to learn that UCD offers sports scholarships to UCD Students. You can get all the details if you follow this link http://www.ucd.ie/sport/scholarships.htm. If you are interested just let me know. My name is Charlie and I am over the club in UCD.

    Hello,
I too am getting on a bit, well 37... not too bad, but in boxing age, maybe a bit old to be starting to get interested in it.
Can anyone advise whether any clubs have members in mid-30s and are allowed to train and fight?

    Hi,

I am 22 and I have attended the boxing club in maynooth on a few occasions but I want to attend a club which is a little more serious as you are not taught how to box. I would like to take up boxing seriously and was wondering if you could point out a good boxing club in the north kildare/Lucan area

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1 greenfield

    Hey,

I'm a 23 year old female. Never boxed before but always have wanted to. Are there any clubs which would welcome complete beginner? I'm in Smithfield and would be willing to go to a club that would be about a half hour cycle. I'd realistically only be able to commit to two days a week.

Any one know of a boxing club in Kilcock or near there? I know there is one in NUI Maynooth. Im 25 and looking to get back into shape. Did boxing when I was younger and was looking to get into it for the training/sparring mostly, not sure if that's catered for.

I'm heading out to Galway for a few days for the Arts Festival and was wondering if there are any clubs i can use while I'm out there. i tried the Alpha 1 club in the Olympic Physique Gym and was told they don't accept drop ins, so I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a club that i can drop into for a couple of hours.

    thank you

I'm a bit of a trek for ya to rush but do take Adults beginners unlike most boxing clubs-in saying that i think this trend might be changing-if you cant find a suitable club look at the white collar boxing route..

I'm looking to get into boxing, initally to get fitter and with an ultimate goal of fighting...living in Rathmines, willing to cycle a good distance. Any hints for me?

Has anyone here ever taken part in Mick Dowling's Boxing classes?

I saw a poster outside the shop in Rathgar, looked it up online and it's €95 for 8 weeks (one class a week) and it's a boxing conditiong class, so basically you learn the basics and get fit.

Should I bother? I am female, not interested in becoming a boxer, but just want to learn the basics and get in shape again so it sounds perfect, but I want to make sure it's worth the money (I'm a poor student.)
