Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I thought I did well to be honest but as time goes on I am doubting myself. I was wondering if we did get the job would we be subsidized for travel expenses and that if we had to go a long distance would you know? How do you think you did?

I'm in the same boat. After the interview I was satisfied with it but now I'm wondering was I just happy because the interview was over! Doubt is creeping in and that's why the wait is so frustrating.

I'm not sure about travel expenses, I haven't thought that far yet.

Ya the wait is killing all hope really.

It was just something that was said to me by a friend so I said I'd ask and see if anyone knew anything. Hopefully this doesn't drag on much longer.

I know someone that might know about the expenses so I'll try and find out later and let you.

Even if we get positive news from this interview there's still a second one to follow.

I don't think there is because they cut it down so much from the aptitude tests to only 30 so they wouldn't have to do second interviews.

I was told at the interview that it I was successful there would be a second interview. I remember my stomach sinking when they told me. Did they say different to you?

Ah sure look at the end of the day we would have just as much experience as yourself. I cant see age making a huge difference in this sure they would have known your age before the interviews so why ask you for an interview if they think youre too old? Best of luck anyway.

I was only joking, seeing as Waestrel thought 32 was perhaps too old for an apprenticeship, I'm older. I'd agree about it not having much relevance, they're looking for competent people, regardless of age.

Exactly they know what they want so there's no age restrictions!

I'm 28. Was told at the start of the interview that a lot of the questions were aimed at people just out of school so they'd skip them. They just told me there was a medical after this round. You'd want to make sure you're not colour blind, I'd a mate who wanted to be a pilot his whole life only to be told he was colour blind when he went for the job

so seems to be a nice spread of ages. Best of luck to us all, I'm sure they'll be in contact soon in any case.

I'd written it off at this stage. Maybe not seeing as no one seems to heard back. Fingers crossed.

    I was in for mechanic and I'm 34 , do I win? :)

The conventional wisdom of boards would suggests huge sums of money, buts thats not all, the job has perks too numerous to list, sufficient to say you will be drinking a lot of tea and chatting away to your colleagues for at least 80% of the day.

Considering we got emailed at different times, it's probably not an automatic email to all of us so probably not going to happen.
We might get lucky and someone will fail medical

Do ye mind me asking what were ye going for?

I haven't heard anything back yet.

Sorry to pull up old thread. But Irish rail are advertising jobs and young fellow is looking at them. Anyone on here know much about it?

    http://www.irishrail.ie/about-us/career-opportunities

Also out of interest does anyone know which jobs are in which region? He would prefer the Electrician but not sure about letting him off down to Limerick or Portlaoise on a solo run? Thanks

Portlaoise or drogheda wouldn't be too bad as he will have a pti card and will have free train travel

Went for an Interview today in Engineering & New Works building in Inchicore.

I feel i didn't do very well in the interview. When they asked me what i knew about Irish Rail, i blanked and i kept forgetting to refer back to previous work experiences for the questions.

Don't be too hard on yourself as you never know how it might turn out. Any idea when you will hear back ?

They said the next stage is a Medical on the 8th August so i presume i should hear back before then.
After that the in-person aptitude test and mechanical reasoning tests.
The 6 successful electrical candidates are to start before the end of august.
