Well Pete Townshend has come out and stated that he is the Rock Star who is under investigation for paying for and downloading child pornography from the Internet.

Is this the end of the legend? Or will his explanation of "research" into child abuse be belived?

I wonder will the tabloids go for the jugular as they did with Gary Glitter and Jonathon King since Mr Townshend is "cool"?

Its bit too early to draw any firm conclusions I'd say, but on balance I belive Townshend, even if he was foolish to go exploring. He said he'd been in touch with Scotland Yard, but they've said nothing yet
(possibly coz going public has taken them by surprise). According to
his brother Paul, Pete was abused as a child. And he's certainly written about the subject in a straightfoward fashion "Fiddle About"
from Tommy being the obvious example.

No doubt this'll keep the tabliods amused for a day or two.

The pseudo-tabloid Sindo was pretty much behind him and the Sunday Times were the same. When it was just an unnamed "rock legend" on Saturday, I had my money on Bill Wyman...

I read that Townshend only downloaded the child porn as part of an operation he was helping to run which was trying to crack down on and wipe out child porn... although what truth there is in this I don't know...

I don't understand how we would be involved in such an operation if it were true though. I've never heard of an operation carried out in such a manner.

He talks about it in his book 'Who I Am' apparently. I think it's a lazy analysis to say that he is a paedo.

Didn't all this prove that the banks were involved in the selling of this pornography, giving that he could purchase it?
