Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The optimist in me says we're getting Kula World, Tombi, Suikoden and Team Buddies preloaded.
Hopefully they won't keep us waiting too long on the complete list

Preordered on both Smyths & Amazon just in case. I think it'll be made in sufficient quantities though, as opposed to the bs Nintendo pull all the time these days.

Unless they add in an enhanced graphics mode I will stick to my Retro-pi as anti-aliasing and dejaggy HD filter really adds a lot to PS1 3D games.

The visuals do look quite 'vanilla' in the video promo for this, not a scanline to be seen

Doubt they will make it easy to add games like the Nintendo minis

Actually, a new Vita FW update has just been released which blocks the new exploit. Hmm....

    Cheers for the heads up.
Preordered from Smyth's with free delivery.

    ....which was nice......

Pre-ordered that now. It'll be from the GF for Christmas so worst case scenario, I'm not out of pocket :P

Not expecting any huge games on it, I hope they don't pull a Sega and put the same crap games nobody wants. I'm happy enough with Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer so far.

I hope they put Tomb Raider II on it, that's a game I'd like to play again....

Not sure though I'm gonna bother pre ordering it, if I dont get one I wont panic as the SNES classic was my BIG one and I just had to have it. PS2 was the first playstation I really took seriousy.

Preordered one, even though I doubt there will be the supply shortages like with the NES (unless on purpose). Interesting to see what the lineup will be and what sort of regional differences there will be.

Can imagine the amount of hassle getting soundtracks for the likes of Wipeout licensed again :(

By the time you factor in cd audio the game files for the PS get quite big.... Or so I am told.... ahem....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Dual omission is annoying but understandable given the sub $100 price point.
Speculation that they may release dual shock controllers as accessories, but doesn't make a huge amount of sense if the built-in 20 games doesn't require analogue sticks.

Personally this is just a collectors item for me, I'll still end up using the Nvidia Shield for Playstation stuff on HDMI

I suppose the really good PS games appeared in the middle to late life of the console, and most of those included DS support, and in most of those cases really only played well with analogue.
So, if you must play Crash and Spyro, it's going to be a chore, more so as you'll have to use a digital pad!
Me, I would like a NegCon!
Only way to play Ridge Racer and it's sequels!

I've resisted pre ordering one of these so far but part of me is still trying to find a reason to order it.

I mean it'll be a nice piece to add to the collection but I've the original system along with a massive back catalogue of titles that'll probably come with this. I've also the PS2, 3 & 4, PSP +Vita that can also play titles in one form or another, so well covered.

...and more logically the system is going to be fairly limited hack wise. Unlike the SNES/NES mini where you can fit every game into the 4gb of flash memory.. If this is hacked, I suspect this will only have maybe 16gb to fit the stock 20 games.. and it'll be a pain having to load up only 20 at a time , id want a sizable selection at hand. Then add the omission of an analogue controller for certain games..

I just think €99 on this could be better spent elsewhere adding to my collection.
If they include a couple more multi disc games I can see it having 32gb flash but that's still not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things.
Maybe we'll have a way of loading from a usb similar to the nintendo minis.

Think there's a decent chance we could get it, with it being a SCE Japan game. The storage size is the only reason they may not go with it.

I just checked that Amazon link for someone and it's currently unavailable. It'll be interesting to see what the stock levels are like in December.

Showing out of stock on Smyth's too.

I'd say the same people that have SNES and NES minis for sale on Adverts for €150 have snapped up the PS1 Classics too.

You'll see them on Adverts for 300 euro at Christmas.

That'll only happen if Sony pull a Nintendo and make these artificially scarce.

More than likely it's just going to be a locked down Vita TV. If you were going to cancel a PSIO order, you'd be far better buying a 3.60 or less Vita TV as opposed to a PS Classic

With the fact that it's so close to Christmas and the pre-orders closed after a couple of days that might just happen, I wouldn't bet against it.

I wouldn't bet against it either, but hopefully Sony don't play into the hands of scalpers, and make enough of the damn things so that anyone who wants one, gets one. Christmas season though will put that to the test.

I've a bad feeling they will just shove 50Hz PAL roms on the system in Europe.

Are the PS1 downloads on PSN still 50hz over here??

Thinking of cancelling my pre-order as I got some other goodies. I think I need to wait until launch to cancel with Smyths, at that rate if these are scarce and someone wants one they can take it off my hands!

I also saw an article saying that the Classic won't be getting any additional games after launch.

If you've preordered for Home Delivery, you can call Smyths and they'll cancel it for you. If it's Click n Collect, you'll have no shortage of takers who'll want it anyway.

Seems to be the case. Can't say I'm surprised, it'd greatly add to the initial expense of the unit.

An ad popped up for the Playstation Classic, offering it for $49.99 with free worldwide shipping.
    I smell a rat!
    So, obviously, I didn't order!

I had it pre-ordered from Amazon but cancelled it, figured I'd give it a little time, pick it up in the new year.

Other than imports that never got a PAL release and a few exceptions like the Resi games, they are all 50Hz.

    That's actually shocking.

It's been a while since I played Bully on PS4 but if I remember it has a ghosting effect to it as if it's a PS2 on composite running on a HDTV. Looks like crap especially compared to what emulators can do. It also doesn't help that Bully Scholarship Edition on 360 is a better looking point of reference.

I think it's wise for them to have some sort of filters or anti-aliasing, rather than just standard emulation. I believe they say the PS2 Games are upscaled to 1080p but they don't look it.

I don't think they will be 50hZ in this day and age, are they that silly?

Everyone generally has 60hz capable HDTVs...

    Nintendo didn't in fairness

If they just dump the EU roms from the EU PSN store onto the Classic, then yeah, Retr0 could be right and we'll end up with the 50Hz versions. You know your bad when Nintendo make you look bad.
