Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I love it, and it's fairly cheap to run too. Have classic tax with Autoline now (I know!) and 6 months tax is only €400. If anyone is ever thinking of one, can't recommend them enough.

    Classic insurance?

    Classic insurance?

Yes turned 15 in January and Autoline quoted. €500 ish for year with 5000 mile limit. Was very hard to insure before that, was about €1800.

I was only paying €710/year when I had mine - it was a 2001 reg. Is €400/six months not more expensive!?

(I may be missing something obvious here - apologies if so :D)

It's more expensive to tax per quarter or biannually, than if you pay all in one go for a year.

But in relative terms I think bang for buck the tax is cheap on these compared to say, an E46 M3 or 350z.

If the car is in storage for the winter, why would he tax it for a full year? ;)

Absolutely - its one of the reasons I chose it myself at the time!

Its €394 for six months on the "normal" tax rate for pre-2008 - and then just declare it off the road for winter? (I'm just not seeing the benefit of "classic tax" here if its €400 for six months)

Now the classic insurance at €500 is fantastic... I paid €2400 for my first year on the S2000 when I had it

I think he means classic insurance with Autoline, and that he taxes it it for 6 mths for €400, which is more or less equal to €394.

Apologies lads meant classic insurance, and yes I'm a stinge who pays quarterly tax ! Then declare it off the road.

Personally I don't see any reason why you shouldn't do it that way. If that's what suits you then fooken do it!

My daily is only €200 to tax for the year and I'm still tight enough to go quarterly !

I love all the cars posted in this thread. Not even the particular cars, just the fact that they’re so fücking clean and polished and clean. From the 1.6 diesels to the 3 liter petrols. All car people giving their cars the love they need.

  • Registered Users Posts: 246 ✭✭dsaint1

Only a week old (for me). 2.0Lt Petrol, Quattro, DSG. Very happy coming from a 1.7 diesel :)

What's handling like and it's about time seeing them back in petrol....

Diesel was a sin in something like that....

I don't think dsaint1 was necessarily saying the diesel car he had was a TT though unless I am mistaking and 1.7 diesel would be an unlikely displacement for a VAG car in my head.

I do know that the TT comes in diesel though which is kind of wrong alrightsmile.png

It has the sline suspension which is slightly lower than standard so along with the Quattro it feels really planted in turns/roundabouts. Great fun to drive so far nothing but impressed.

My last car was a Tuscon diesel but yes the TT is available in 2.0L TDI.

Oh I get that it's in diesel form but it's a car that should only have ever been petrol....

Savage place to be and best of luck with her....

I would love the older 225 as a toy to mess with but I'll have to make do with my Octavia vRS which I'll keep as I've had it since Jan 2010. Id love to fit a bigger turbo, some suspension upgrades and just listen to it go....

God be with the days when this would be followed by 5 pages of whinging over whether this was a boards only event or for a certain 'clique' :P:D
You'd have to be round here a long time to remember that....

And the retort from the upset party was to organise their own "meet" to which they themselves were the only ones to turn up :pac:
