Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Decent enough card so far.

Gilbert Melendez very impressive earlier v Felice Herrig!

Some fight. DC was lucky to last last around.

Any word on O’Malley, was he injured?

Jesus how did Goddard miss that eye poke?! Absolutely brutal and look what way it's left his eye.

Leg injury. Cause unknown yet. Showed him rolling his foot, but possibly injury done by a kick.

    I've it even going into the last. DC 1 & 2. Stipe 2 & 3.
    Money on DC.

DC needs a ko to win imo.

    How are people scoring this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,408 ✭✭✭funkey_monkey

You could give DC two rounds, so likely 48-47 to Stipe. Could be be 49-46.

That eyepoke at end of the third round was disgusting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,256 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

    Stipe never really in trouble.

There was a lot of "clinch" time there where Stipe was looking to do nothing. No advancement, no inside boxing, just leaning which I think should be given 20-30 secs before being broken up IMO

Was I the only one who noticed DC's eye was f*cked up before this? After the punches at the end of Round 2?

The eye poke was brutal! But I think he was compromised already.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭Carroller

I don't know why DC is giving out so much about the poke. Clear poke but he wouldn't have been happy to have the fight ended by doctor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,245 ✭✭✭Esse85

The cameras went to DC corner every time after a round, UFC definitely wanted a DC finish. Miocic doesn't get the credit he deserves at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭kwestfan08

Great fight and end to the trilogy. I'd have to watch it back again but I had stipe winning all five rds. 1st was close but that's the only one I'd give DC, and I'm wearing a DC t shirt right now so I'm in no way biased!

If it was ended would he have won or would it be a NC.

Stipe eating some good boxes but bossed the fight. For me DC won the first round but that was it. At the end of the second, he clenched hard and climbed for the bell.

I was thinking it would be much more exciting as a three rounder. A lot of 4th and 5th they were clenched up against the barrier.

Very enjoyable card. Shocked O’Malley lost but hopefully learn and come back stronger. Really like him, but he may have been believing the hype. Never like flashiness like rainbow hair etc.

The arm bar in the women’s fight was class. She really showed her bjj expertise. Dana really getting amazing matchups. The talent pool is class. So much more than boxing.

Not sure about this. Ref clearly said "you are punched" so I'd imagine the ref would have called it a TKO

that eye poke was disgusting and ****ed up a bit of his performance as he was getting back into it, but he was basically out only for that bell so his luck sort of canceled itself out.

I think the main decider was how much of a punch stipe could take. thought that was pretty clear after surviving such big punches from nganou

Just looked it up. If it’s intentional, and fighter can’t continue the fighter will lose by disqualification.

If an eye gouge occurs occurs as a result of a legal punch, it isn’t a foul. Unless the ref sees it as a separate movement.

I took it that the fact he was demonstrably clenching stiles legs which protected his face was evidence of him defending himself so fight not stopped. Not sure how long he would have been able to continue that and the bell definitely saved him.

Goddamn the chin and heart on both those guys. Glad Stipe won but both looked so exhausted. New gloves seriously needed to help stop the eye pokes. Jones can F off sniffing around for a shot at Stipe. I hope it happens eventually as would love to see Stipe wreck him.

He must certainly was, some lad on Reddit posted a few days ago that he'd noticed Sean hobbling around awkwardly and only walking on the treadmill in episode 5 of UFC embedded.

Also, some punter put $40k on Chitto to win in the 1st round only a few hours before the fight. He had to have had some inside info. Paid out $190K.

It could have been a great fight too, shame.

Nice fight. Stipe just ate everything he threw at him never in trouble.

Looks like Chito hurt him with a leg kick early on as well. Lads on Reddit reckon it was some nerve in his leg that was hurt, you can see his foot dragging shortly after the kick and when he went down at the finish.

I thought Rogan and Cruz were biased in the commentary and didn't give stipe enough credit, Anik was the only one praising him. Thought Stipe comfortably won that 49-46, maybe even 50-45 at a push, youd never tell listening to the commentary

Generally a fan of both Cruz and Rogan

Sickening to see most people saying Stipe only won cos of eye poke. DCs eye was badly swollen before the poke. Stipe didn't seem worried atall about DCs power, walked straight into a few nice shots. Complete domination I thought.

People too saying o malley lost cos of a freak accident, i thought chito blocked a kick an hurt him, then he rolllee his ankle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,594 ✭✭✭smilerf

Aniks pronunciation of miocic was really bothering me lol

John kavanagh on Twitter explaining what he thinks may have happened. Same with DJ and Cejudo. Kick behind the knee damages the nerve

This'll be the moment. He switches stance immediately and you can see his foot starting to drag.
Peroneal nerve is what people are saying he hit.

First time seeing that, doesn't even look like he connected properly with that kick but it's clear it hurt him. I thought it was a checked kick.
