I think the mania match being first both titles is a fun idea but if you were basically any woman on the smackdown roster you'd be raging. Oh well they should have made themselves indispensable

I wouldn't have done this, but I will add that long term, I don't think it's the worst thing for the title. If they keep the two together, that's best all around. But even if they unify them at Mania and then split them afterward, the title feels more important for having been in that 3 way. Asuka defending it in a multiple person match in the third or fourth match on the card that goes 5 minutes at Wrestlemania while Ronda Becky & Charlotte main event would just have highlighted how secondary it was.

I'm pissed off for Asuka so they've achieved their goal in getting heat on Charlotte I guess (although fans seemed to be favouring her during the match).

She is quality and just as good, if not better, than Charlotte/Becky/Ronda in the ring. It's just hard to build feuds around the language barrier.

Charlotte beat Asuka for the SD Women's title.
Big E and Xavier running the gauntlet for Kofi's WM spot. Usos walked out of the match giving them a free pass.
Orton RKO'ed Styles at the beginning of the Angle / Stlyes match. so that was the end of that...

God, adding the Smackdown women’s title is the icing on the overbooked cake that is the main event for Mania. Don’t get me wrong, it will be awesome to see Becky win both titles. “The Man” gimmick will fit a unified title reign brilliantly. But it is so bloated of a story, and feels done cause they realized how pointless Charlotte was in the whole thing. If they’d made the decision weeks ago, it would have been a fascinating story, but it’s so lagged now.

And that’s before we talk their treatment of Asuka.

On the flipside' I loved the gauntlet match. The duo fighting for Kofi, the USO’s forfeiting (which is an amazing character moment, something we don’t get in WWe ever), to the fact that we get a long term tease for a Big e heel turn (since he was the one who finally earned Kofi his shot). Brilliant.

I don't think they'll put both titles on the line. Someone tweeted a photoshop recently of the 4HW with all the titles at the end of Mania and I think that is what they are actually going for.

Asuka is a wonderful wrestler. She’s being booked horribly.
WWE are putting all their eggs in this triple thereat storyline.

I wholeheartedly and unreservedly apologise for complaining about the Kofi booking last week.

Having Kofi have friends willing to win a gauntlet like that to get to Wrestlemania was tremendous booking. Genius.

As much as this is all about Kofi getting his shot, I don't think it can be overstated just how ducking unbelievable Woods and Big E have been in their roles.

Kudos to WWE on that. Perfect.

I'll get on to Charlotte later.

Although Xavier and Big E turning on Kofi on the smackdown after mania just keeps popping in my head

The whole women's match has been a booking mess since since it's inception as a three way. If you're going to have both titles showcased in the main event, get the belt on Charlotte months ago and have her steamroll people. Not stick it on her at the last minute for optics. Poxy. I really really have a low level of interest for this and it's a shame.

i think the only way it would make any kind of sense for them to celebrate is if the rest of the mma 4 horsewomen attack charlotte and becky then sasha/bayley make the save

She won the Royal Rumble, was in the title match at Wrestlemania, and tapped out the hottest star in the company in January. It's not as bad as you might think by a long shot.

I enjoyed Smackdown. The storytelling with Kofi has been great. It felt like a week too far at the end of last Tuesday's show, but this was phenomenal.

I wouldn't get myself too wound up about the minutiae of the womens title match. Once they get in the ring at whatever godforsaken hour next Sunday, the beat the clock silliness, the multiple titles, the crutch, etc...it's not going to resonate or matter. It will just be WWE's hottest talent, biggest star, and best female worker in the ring together tearing it down as the first 3 women to headline Wrestlemania, and we will all go nuts when Becky gets her hand raised. It will be great.

Asuka defending the title in a preshow match against Mandy or Sonya or 8 women in 6 minutes would not have benefited her or the show.

agree with the comments that charlotte should have been steaming through the smackdown divison if this was always the plan, but a fiver says they thought about this at last minute.

Not impressed with the over use of the Gauntlet match, especially in the format where its the new day (single or tag) vs 4 or 5 others. The old gauntlet matches, where winner stays on, are useful once a year. The last two versions make chumps out of those beaten, especially when they are in the 4th or 5th match.

Liked the Uso's forfeit though.

Wasn't there meant to be a fatal four way to decide Asuka's opponent for Mania? What they did was just unnecessary.
I know people use the "lazy writing" excuse, but this seems to be just that. This way they don't have to worry about a Smackdown women's title match.

The Usos should've just given the guys a chance to rest before forfeiting. Though they did get the ad break to rest. I did like what they did. It was in character and they knew they had nothing to gain from fighting.

They won't do that. All the advertising is done or being done with those three as the main event, it will stay that way.

Although they have given the Mania crowd a little ammo to starting hijacking the main event with "Asuka" chants if they get cranky enough.

Why couldn't they just do Lynch vs Rousey. I like Charlotte as a wrestler as much as anyone but everything about her being added to the match just feels unnecessary. If Lynch beats her at Mania what does that mean? Nothing, as Lynch has beaten her so many times already.
She's Smackdown women's champion on about an hour's notice no doubt. Shows how much the titles mean, it's why the Rumble & MITB matches mean less and less the more they happen.

Anyone criticising it before would have been right, because we can't trust WWE to tell a proper story but they're actually doing it

Charlotte winning the title though is just a mess, they're making it up as they go along week by week, show by show and that usually ends up crap as opposed to a long term story set out months in advance

the women are in the main event of Wrestlemania because of Ronda Rousey, and then the rise of Becky Lynch. that's it. Charlotte has done nothing to make this match so interesting that it deserves to close Wrestlemania. nothing. Vince tried to have her be a fúcking babyface and it was a fúcking disaster. she's in there for nothing else but her name and the fact that Vince has a raging Roman Reigns sized boner for her.

you know what Vince...just get it over with...just have Roman beat Drew at Wrestlemania. then come out and say that he's been added to the Lesnar/Seth match. have him beat the two of them - pinning Lesnar on top of Seth. then have Charlotte knock Becky out within one minute of the opening bell, and have Charlotte tap Rousey out with the armbar after a squash.

then have Roman and Charlotte make out in the middle of the ring to close the show, while you sit in Guerrilla position like this...
