I've been looking for one of these to use as my new winter beater, here in the US that LS430 would be $7K

We do complain about cost of motoring in Ireland, but when it comes to buying some cars we pay very little.

My friends in Poland couldn't believe I have only paid €650 for 2001 clk.

€3000 to buy over there. And 3k doesn't come in as easily as it does here.

I often wonder if bangernomics would even exist if it weren t for the insurance companies scamming the Irish public

Policies should be based on the driver and their driving history and not solely on the age of a vehicle

age related premiums are a very new thing here.

I think it's more the penal tax rates rather than insurance cost that the bangernomics exists.

The motor ''industry'' needs to get as many older, but perfectly serviceable, cars into the scrapyards as they possibly can. The insurance parasites and the government are hand in hand with them. Cozy cartels that look after each other.

To give the seller the benefit of the doubt, the new disc is probably in the post :)

That said, my own tax expired at the end of May and after forking out €268 , the new 3 month disc arrived in the post 2 working days later. What's the story, seller?

Solar batteries, inverters, solar panels, watches, BMS, electronics for sale

    Pictures taken earlier I guess...

If there is no tax there is a room for further price reduction :)

€1550 is too much, I would pay a grand though. NCT 7/17 - 15k miles

Top end of the budget here at €1900 but a fresh looking LPG'd Focus estate with NCT 3/17 and some tax (8/16) is worth a mention I should think.

Smart looking 156 with a years test, €1500 out of a dealership no less. Ad vague on details.

Looks nice but beware that that isn't an actual Ti. The alloys are but the interior is not - Ti interior are buckety leather seats with Ti stamped into them.
I wouldn't even say that is the Lusso version as Lusso also has leather but rather it's the Veloce version.

    Cartell says:
    Registration 05L2250
    Make ALFA ROMEO
    Model 156
    Description 1.6 TI/LUSSO 4DR
    Engine Capacity 1598

I know, I saw that myself but for sure it isn't.
Eg this is an actual Ti

I'm not disagreeing with you, unless there was some realignment on the specs on the runout models. Only the alloys on that 156 look like a TI, rest is lower spec.

Didn't mean to come across snappy :)
Seems to be a discrepancy when the car was being registered. Because Ti was a spec, just like Lusso was.
    So you couldn't have a Ti/Lusso spec.

Low mileage (77k) Mini Cooper, only 4 months test, but claims of a lot of work done, so might well be worth a look at only €1750?

Something for the Summer...I would however want to see proof that it only needs a "roof cable". NCT 4/17 - €1500

    So, getting caught up here,
I can either spend €1500 on an 06 Primera
or similar on an 04 407 SW.....
Both Bangernomics, both NCT'd, the first with a 1.6 petrol engine and the other with a 1.6 diesel.
The 407 has had the DPF and Flywheel done
    What do ye think?
    Here's the cars
    Primera
    407 SW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Roll the dice again, I wouldn't fancy owning either of those. At a push the primera

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,377 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

Gun to. My head it'd be the 407. Really gone off that model primera lately, theyve not aged at all well.

Purely because of my love of all things Japanese, (Toyota, Sony, Reon Kadena, Nozomi Sasaki) I'd take the Nissan. My previous ownership with French cars, Renault and Citroen (granted that was the 90's) nearly put me in a room with rubber wallpaper.
