    Yes it is Faraklata.

    The mention of Katyn massacre put in mind of the massacre of the Italian 33rd Acqui Infantry Division in Kefalonia in September 1943 after the fall of Mussolini.

    Think of Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
    Some of the influence for that book and movie is down to event in the village of Faraklata where ...
    In Farakalata the whole battery of the 33rd artillery was massacred. One Italian captain was shot but he played dead, later found by Farakalatas' preist Dionysis konstandikias, sadly the Germans found out about this and took the Priests son Aggelos and hung him from an olive tree in the village square to this day there is a remembrance cross on the tree to commemorate the horrendous act that was carried out.

    I have found that before with image of a church somewhere in France.
    The image led me to another town and not the correct one.
    Drove me nuts.
    I believe it was a stock image that someone had added incorrect detail.

    Something similar happened in S[ports pics thread where someone claimed FA Cup final pic was of different match even though one could see the correct jerseys and even some players.
