It is fixed but 2 more have popped up since then. Once it reaches 10 again I'll clear it. These are all notifications I've seen already by the way.

you can turn off strava emails (if that's what they are!) but you can't seem to turn off the notification bell...

I'm the same, depending on the mail programme the unread count is always maxed out at 99+ etc. My Strava notification count can be the same.

From an outsiders perspective, Strava comes across as the biggest load of sh1te! :)

No offence, but you're both monsters who shouldn't be allowed email

Depends on what you use it for.

    Personally I find it has great use;

    - Training log which uploads splits from the watch without my need to manually input
    - Hill Gradients
    - Finding good training loops for reps, hills etc
    - Good for Race Analysis comparing splits and courses to see where you were fading as opposed to just a tough part of a course.
    - Where else are you going to get day to day info of 13 min 5k runners/70 min HM runners (female), 2.20 marathoners.

Social Media side is just one part to a very useful training tool.

Ah yeh, my post was only in jest. It's the social media/kudos/trophies/course records/backslaps b0lloxology that makes it come across a bit sh1t.

How is it any different to an online training log? On some level everyone who logs here wants there training to be acknowledged in some shape or form otherwise we would be writing in a word document saved to our computer or an old fashioned hand written training diary.

What is the correct Strava etiquette? Must you return Kudos?

Probably very little difference tbh. But old fashioned folk like myself like to rant about all these new hip gadgets and gizmos. :D

Ignore them in the hope the people following you go away

ya'll know we're just having a laugh right? no one takes this stuff seriously! follow, don't follow, give kudos, don't give kudos - whatever :pac:

I'd one guy who was giving kudos for everything, obviously hoping I'd return the favour. He used to do it for everything, cycle into work, short run, warmup, everything.

Even after I removed him as a follower still the same until I dropped out of various "clubs" on strava such as the boards club or the parkrun club.

Now its setup such that I have to approve followers, so only really have people I know and it works a lot better.

I love it though, especially analyzing sessions/races, so much info and so easy to find. Also great to be able to look at athletes like Josh Harris or whatever and see the sort of sessions they are doing.

Still no sign of Sonia approving my request to follow though!

Think back to that freak you mentioned who stalked you on Strava. Now multiply that by 10,000 for Sonia. That is why she has not accepted.

Most of them are places for storing info like server and remote machine addresses and credentials. There's so much crap to keep track of across machines the world over I found storing them as draft emails the best, and I have access to them anywhere.

Every now and again I go on a big purge but with the price of storage these days I've become an expert on ignoring anything that doesn't seem important but leaving them there as a just in case.

Up until recently 1 company mailbox I used had a ridiculous 100Mb limit and it was being disabled on a weekly basis on me.

Question for ye - I leave an email unread as I plan to go back and read it when I have 'more time' this time never materialises of course - are he the same or just not bothered ever to read/delete etc?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 20,369 Mod ✭✭✭✭RacoonQueen

I've just marked loads of my emails as unread and then marked them as read again to make myself feel better.

This heat is killing me. Wasn't it winter just 2 weeks ago? I don't know what pace to run at anymore.
