    Even if I do have to go the breeze route I'll probably just leave my old mobile on permenantly plugged into the charger in case of emergency - thanks for the suggestion.

    Yes, you can replace your existing broadband and landline with Wireless broadband and VOIP.

    @christopher.sm I seen your Blueface post on an old thread, I'm been with them on a residential service for several years, €149 per yr for Ireland & UK unlimited, they don't advertise it any longer but I call them each Sept when my sub ends & they renew it, I'm going to finish with them this coming Sept as my broadband package with virgin media includes free phone.

    VOIP is only as good as the underlying network. I've tried to use skype on Three and it's unusable. I also tried to use a VOIP system (not blueface, but a work VPN based system) over a wireless broadband system and it wasn't reliable enough either. VOIP should work over fixed broadband though.

    VOIP on a fixed wireless broadband network when supplied by the same company should be just as good and often better then POTS. The reason being the VOIP can be given priority on the network.
