Video output from Mac Mini "blinking" when connected through AV receiver

I just bought a Marantz NR1606 "AV surround receiver". The idea is that I can have a number of HDMI inputs connected to it and select which input connects to my TV.

My satellite box works flawlessly (in terms of sound and picture), however when I select my mac mini the picture "blinks" about once every 3 seconds. When the mac mini is connected directly to the TV (not passing through the Marantz unit) it works perfectly.

I have tried various HDMI cables and different inputs no the Marantz unit, all to no avail.

A quick Google shows that I am not alone, but so far I have been unable to find a solution. Proposed solutions on other forums include installing a "Gefen HDMI detective", but I am not familiar with these devices.

    Any suggestions??

    Has anyone experienced similar issues?

    Thanks in advance.

No direct experience of your problem, but I had similar issue with an AppleTV and a similar HDMI switch. My reading suggested that the AppleTV treated the HDMI like it was always 'on' and this confused the switch, but I never got around it. In the end I rewired things so the AppleTV had a dedicated HDMI connection, and I left the other devices on the switch.
