    The comic strip ran in the Evening Herald alongside Beetle Bailey and was my gateway into the genres of SciFi & fantasy - a place where I still happily live to the exclusion of almost all other novels. It (literally!) shaped my life, the choices I've made and got me to where I am today. I've had years of working with writers, publishers, artists, film makers, actors and scientists because of that comic strip.

    Delighted that Mandrake was able to conjure up such reflections.

    Turner it is. Was in London not so long ago and spent a day in the National gallery, most of it just sat by the Turner collection. Seeing his paintings full scale is awesome.

    Working out dates according to my childrens' birth dates, and wondering if Pacman was born after them or before. I think he was born after them, mebbe around 1888?

    OK took a bit of memory teasing to get this one out:

    It is April 1944, height of WW2. At the Old Bailey criminal court in London, Helen Duncan was found guilty and sentenced. BUT what for? (The last person in Britain to be found guilty of this crime.)

    Just read the wikipedia. Interesting story. She was tried undr an aspect of the Witchcraft statute - that of making money by falsely claiming to be a witch.

    Tried under witchcraft laws for not being a witch. At the behest of the department of defence just in case she really was a (clairvoyant) witch. Wow.
