Could be an option if you rang them.
might do, i wonder if they would be interested in a swop

Could be an option if you rang them.

Probably not worth their while fixing it up, but no reason why it wouldn't be for an individual.

I'd be more worried about the mileage though - I'm thinking that might be a bit of a fantasy unless backed up by history - unlikely at this stage.

But someone cared enough about it to put some decent rubber on.

I'd nearly buy it for the wheels.

trying teen to butter up the missus all day. Serious opportunity at that price. I'd love to tuck it away next to the Glanza, an iconic car from my childhood for a smidge more than a weeks wages.

    That was €750 last week.

    Seems too cheap nearly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Yeah, was 750 this morning too.

I'd say there's more to the indicator issue than meets the eye and it probably needs every consumable under the sun from timing belts to tyres.

Cheap way into a future classic.

    Still though

I am kinda glad it isn't closer to me :P

I'm told absolutely no way is it coming home. If he is near my workplace, it could end up there :P will call tomorrow.

If I had the cash I'd snap that up myself, stick it in the shed and give it a good going over, I love hot hatches, and it's about the only thing the French are relatively good at.

^^ The 800 euro with a new NCT is not a bad deal, if everything else was ok.

If you had a horde of dwarfs at home then that ladder on the back would be dead handy for them.

This car belongs to the missus and she is gutted to see it go, but economically it doesn't make sense to put it through a garage for the repairs

If you are into doing your own work, most of what's needed is labour and not parts

I have been as honest as possible and listed anything I can think of, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask

I actually rang about this car last week. The indicator issue keeps blowing its relay which means the car doesn't have working indicators, wipers, horn and I think something else.

I buy the odd rover 75 as a hobby. I tend to look for late cars for around the 400 mark needing a few bits done. At that, selling them for marginally over 1k, only leaves a couple of hundred for all the work and hassle - as I say, it's a passtime as I like the cars.
As your car is pretty old and has rot, in my opinion, it has little to no value as even with a new test, it's only worth 500 to 600.

    Cheers for the reply
I'm afraid it's looking like that alright. Think I will just split for parts. Its just a pity to see another car disappear due to a few small bits that need doing

Sounds like the MAF could be goosed on that probably coupled with a blocked EGR.
If yeah then a very easy fix. If no... well :D

If that was in Dublin I'd have gone for a look at it

Here's a Rapid that's had 0 careful owners. I'd say that was an awkward phone call to the customer, 'I'm afraid there'll be a slight delay with your new car':D

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Well, if you can do it for less than 8 grand you would not be too bad. Assuming its not recorded. But it probably is.

Cant see it costing that much. 4.5K tops?

They seem to have left out the important photo.
Nice project for someone in the trade but I don't think it is worthwhile if paying full retail prices at a bodyshop.
