Agree with you fully! Although i hope the tender goes back to ford or Toyota the avenesis were decent enough could take belting when it was needed.
Miss the Mondeos though particularly the 2004-07 models.

Having said that i seen a couple of minutes ago an avensis saloon regular car (not traffic) in coolock with anpr on it. The rear cam on the boot looks like its being held on with chewing gum or some sort putty. Looks like a quick fix...or a bad transition.
    Toyota from 2011 where awful

some probably will but will have had a fortune spent on them.

Mondeo I was say from experience is one of the best suited standard cars they ever had.
    Great handling machines.

Caught a glimse of motorway cops old old series last night and a Octavia estate vRS against police 3series.

The vRS left them sitting as the cornering capabilities was huge compared to there over weight machine.
Great for motorway straight lines but on back roads had huge trouble.

It will be interesting to see when new tender is put out will they stick with Hyundai from now on.

    Ford have lost out big.

Number one concern will be, as always, price over suitability. If Lego put in a tender at the right price, they would be supplying the next fleet! :D

    .

No no no. Grand car for spinning around in, not responding though. The estates were underpowered, the siren panel was sh1t. And whatever clown thought it was appropriate to buy vehicles with electronic parking breaks for patrol cars wants their head examined! And they repeated that with the i40's.

Some enterprising person should have bought the rights to the 07 Mondeo. I've never heard a single negative comment about them.

I can’t remember where I heard it but it is a good quote ( I think it was something to do with London Fire Brigade) “Remember, your PPE is provided by the lowest bidder”

I was just going to ask, what happened to that large fleet of silver cars? I have seen 1 silver Ford Focus marked in Malahide but thats about it. Were the 2011 Toyotas not silver as well?

Think it was said here before regarding that Focus originally being unmarked and marked up. Didn't they do the same with an advance mondeo as well ?

Didn't know the Garda cars had those electronic breaks, they are tricky at the best of times, can't imagine how bad they are if you are in a rush or under pressure :(

I thought they removed electronic braking.

    They did on insignias

Nope, the Avenue and now the i40's have them. No place in patrol cars. You can't just jump in a go. Seatbelt has to be on or you have to hold buttons and press pedals.

I personally think the new shape transits look terrible but once they drive well i guess that's all that matters.
