Would Security+ be worth getting or just a waste?

I did the CCNA(R&S) and I would like to eventually upgrade by getting the CCNA security and so I'm considering doing the Security+ as a starting point.

But would it be a waste of time?

I would just keep going towards the CCNA security myself.

Hi Druid, The CCNA security would be a more recognizable cert on your CV and it starts at the beginning too. It's one book and not very difficult, but it's a good crash course in basic network security principles.

These days Routing and Switching alone are not enough, so you are right to go for a security cert. However you should also consider the CCNP R&S if you want to be taken seriously in the industry.
