    Well I got the falafel!

Haven't had a chance to try them heated yet but cold they aren't the best :(

I bought them today too. Do you normally eat them as a snack or what?

You can but they can also go into pittas or wraps with salad and things like hummus or whatever tickles your fancy :) they're quite dry without a sauce imo

Don't seem to stock the falafel in my local store

Does anyone notice their shopping to be getting a little more expensive in aldi? Granted it's still comparitively cheap but I have noticed the bills cranking up

This was predicted. Get a share of the market with cheap prices and then slowly crank them up.

The falafel has finally landed in Limerick! Bought both kinds to try them out. Haven't tried the Mediterranean yet, but had the Morocccan tonight with mixed salad leaves, red onion, black olives, feta and garlicky dressing.
    Verdict = Tasty :)

I'm not sure that's entirely true.

What they have done, in contrast to Lidl, is to steadily improve on the choice of goods on offer, especially their upmarket "Specially selected" range. It's easy to just chuck one of these into the basket instead of the cheaper standard one and not look too carefully at the price. There is often quite a difference though.

The 4 pack of frozen pre-baked potatoes are good. Tastier spuds than the McCain equivalents.

The Aldi Fruit and Fibre cereal is every bit as nice as the Kellogg's one at half the price.

Got the sushi in Aldi recently.
Around €4 for what is usually around €6 elsewhere.
Very tasty and nice handy, healthy treat.
    I hope it's a permanent fixture

Their low fat yogurts (can't remember the brand name) are excellent. Just as nice as Muller and more than half the price. In a pack of 6.

I still haven't found the falafel - where is it kept?

In my local one they're kept with the sandwiches, salads, hummus, coleslaw etc.

Yes, with the dips and sandwiches - on the top shelf, LH side, in my local. Both varieties are really nice and good to note that they're oven baked instead of fried, so not quite as calorific as they could be!

Tbh I'm not sure I'm sold on their falafel. I find them to he quite bland and dry unless I put spices and sauce with them.

I had the Mediterranean ones last night in a wrap and while it was nice it was only saved because of the sriracha and mayo. Kinda takes away the healthy element when it needs mayo!

    Try seasoned/spiced/herbed plain yoghurt.

The Mild curry sauce, the one with the pineapple in it is delicious!

I bought both kinds to try out. I wasn't mad about the Mediterranean one either to be honest, but I thought the Moroccan one was much nicer. Would buy that one again.

I find the Aldi porridge the best of all the brands. Especially love the Organic one.

I haven't tried the organic one might give it a go next, thanks... Is it more or less the same to whip up as the quick oats? I love it in the mornings with blueberries...

I stick it in the microwave for about 4 mins and its lovely. I also add brown sugar and a few sultanas.

Their fresh fillets of salmon are spot on, about 3.90 for two, the same as what I've seen in Tesco for about €6.

All of their biscuits. Their own-brand Oreos, Jaffa Cakes, penguins, kit-kats, Toffee pops, etc - all just as good if not better than the branded ones.

Their juices are all lovely as well, and not very expensive for the not-from-concentrate ones similar to Tropicana and the like.

They do some nice currys as well.

They have the Kalamata olives back in now that disappeared for a while. They are so so good! Moroccan falafel is definitely the best of the two, the other just seems a bit....meh.
