    Makes sense. I'm surprised this hasn't happened already. Although I wouldn't take this as a sign - apparently this naming convention has been around for a while in internal development.

    I wonder will they move on from version 10.x? We're on 10.11 I think?
    The change to macOS would an opportunity to change the version to 11.0 perhaps?

    I can't imagine any forthcoming upgrade that would justify calling it v11. It's easier to just drop the X from the branding. With the code names, the version number is mostly irrelevant anyway.

    Yeah I know, it just bugs me slightly though. I work in a software company and we version each major release as 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc, and only use x.1, x.2 for minor releases and fixes, similar to how iOS/ TVOS/ watchOS work.
    No big deal though, Apple have done a good job of getting people to refer to their Mac OS by the code name rather than version.
