Thanks mylesm... could you at least register your VIN? I understand that the app doesn't work for anyone at the moment as they are still working on the security issues

Ok after nearly 3 weeks trying to sort out the greyed out menus I got an email today from nissan CS telling me they reset my account and to try it out

I logged on to web and sure enough I can now control car from web portal so roll on the new app

I cannot believe Nissan held up Leaf Delivery due to Telematics issues and after frustrating customers for 6 weeks they then release cars and they still have telematics issues

Have to say its pretty poor service

as someone who develops telematic solutions , I agree, its all rather bizarre to be having issues at this stage of development, all this stuff is " off the shelf" technology

Most car companies don't have the skill set in house so they outsource. Nissan outsourced the Leaf telematics to CS (including sourcing hardware and managing infrastructure), and having worked with CS on a rail telematics project, my opinion is CS couldn't find their own arse with both hands.

    Et voila... NissanConnect EV.

It looks like some car companies, at long last, are understanding that good car software experience is key to their future, and not just an after-thought, as recently shown by Nissan Connect. From an Engadget article, BMW are increasing in-house software skills to 50-50 of their staffing levels. Quote:
"Our task is to preserve or business model without surrendering it to an internet player,", BMW's Klaus Froehlich says. "Otherwise we will end up as the Foxconn for a company like Apple, delivering only the metal bodies for them."

Still not working for me... Can't log in as it will not allow me to select a country.
But the web site is working but a bit of a pita to fire up the laptop to use.
    Not heard anything from Nissan

Hi I just downloaded the iphone NissanconnectEV app and it works just great !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,702 ✭✭✭✭BoatMad

They really need to allow multiple users on the same car. So that for example alerts can go to two people not just one

Was there some security concerns with carwings and Nissan connect and has it all been sorted

Yes , but I presume it's been sorted. Download the latest connectEV app and it works

Mind you I can't get the alerting features to work , I don't know how it does ssm alerts given there no place to enter your number ?

Thanks guys for the update, the app is working for me now too.
Regarding updates, the web app mentioned that some of the notifications could only be set in the car... Also on the web app you can add a second email address for notifications - possibly you can add your phone number there too for the SMS alerts

I can't see anyway to set alerts in the car. You can " select email " but no settings

I don't see anywhere to sms details or add second emails ??? In the web app

( which would be very useful )

You do this from the connect website. At least that's what I did for carwings.

I think there are some settings in the head unit can't rem, you got the newer head unit anyway so it will be different.

I was just out and about in the car myself and the only setting in the car (151 model) under car wings settings was to notify when charging is finished.

As mad lad says, in the connect web app there is a page for notifications and in the I've got a 2nd email added for the notifications.

I'll log in to the web app later and get a screen shot

It's actually handy because if you forget to plug in it will e-mail you to tell you. But you need to make sure your mobile syncs or remember to check your mail.

    This is the reminder.

"This is a notification message regarding your Nissan LEAF.

Your Nissan Leaf is not plugged in at a location you have defined as a charge reminder spot.
    "

    I can't remember defining a charge spot !

here is the image from carwings where you set the 2nd emai... you get this page if you select "Notifications" in the menu pane on the left

Hang on this is all car wings

None of those pages exist on the Nissan connect Ev pages

Anyway after working yesterday my Nissan connect Ev is now not updating via web or app

Youd think Nissan could get this working by this stage

Should be, carwings is working perfectly for me, so the connect should be too I'd imagine, to be honest I've had very few problems with carwings. Might have to give them a call.

Got my nissanconnectev to work by deleting the vin and reentering it. That restarted the app

    Smacks of junk software

Hi guys, after contacting the cs they eventually managed to register my leaf. Had to give them a 6 digit number printed on the motor to enable this..

Anyway. As I'm a newbie what should I be using?
Nissan connect EV app ( doesn't have heated seats etc)
    Carwings?
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I'm buying a second hand leaf from a company in Dublin that's importing it from Northern Ireland. They are registering the car etc.. I'm picking it up this Wednesday.

What should I be asking them about the TCU before I pick up the car? Didn't realise this could be an issue until I did some reading about the Leafs today. Will a new piece of equipment need to be fitted as it will now be in the republic?

    Is it a 161 car?
If its older than that you dont need to do anything to the TCU. That TCU issue was 2016 cars only.

    Thanks for replying KCross.

Its a 2014 car registered in the UK. The dealer is registering it in Ireland tomorrow.

Email Nissan EV support => evuk@nissan-services.eu

    .

Give them the existing UK reg for the vehicle. Explain that you are in the process of having it imported (or that the dealer is). Ask them to check if the original owner had registered for Nissan Connect. If they haven't, then its much more straightforward to get a Nissan Connect account setup.
