Not sure if this is where to post but I think we found a clump of hair in a lump of turf we purchased.
What do we do with this if anything?
I suppose it could be some sort of plant life but it honestly looks like wavy hair.
    A missed bog body perhaps?

Any chance of a photo or two?

Not impossible that it's hair but very likely to be bog cotton, it can be incredibly tough and wavy like hair, usually a red / brown colour. If you can post a photo it would help.

Here in the N.W it is called 'wig' because it resembles hair.....its just preserved vegetetion of some sort. Here is a bit I was just about to burn.

I was told that it used to be a devil to cut by hand with a slain.in the good old days. I like to use the 'wiggy shtuff' for starting the fire. I'm always looking out for any votive bog offerings in my turf after I heard about someone in Roscommon who found an small ancient knife when they were emptying the ash pan on their stove.

You could contact the archaeology dept of the national museum with a description and photograph

Try pulling of a few strands and burn with cigarette lighter ...if it smells like burning hair then you may indeed have yourself a bit of bog body.
