Lightroom - Presets?

I'm just back from holidays and about to go through over 1000 photos. I've used presets a bit in the past but its kinda hit and miss. I tried the VSCO free pack but I didn't use it much. I found a few random ones online which I sometimes use. However I'm wondering if there are any preset packs with a variety of different presets to use?

What do you guys use?

I've tried a few different ones I've found online, but I find my go-to presets are ones I've developed myself.

I think you find the directory which they are stored in, its buried deep I remember but if you go into preferences and then presets, you can click "Show directory" to open in explorer. Then its just copy paste believe!

It's nice to look at presets from other people to see how the look was achieved, but much better to create your own broken down into stages - sharpening/detail, cross process, lens correction, clarity and saturation etc. Presets that cover everything never work out for me, I find it easier to apply them gradually. Start with one image in the set, then carry on with the rest.

I bought the Google Nik Collection, only used it once or twice, so can't suggest. the few I've seen were impressive.

Agree with you. I also found presets interesting initially to learn about different styles, particularly how treatments in the curves adjustment by channel could affect the image. Personally, I find the presets boring as everything ends up looking the same, and personally makes me lazy, less thought goes into accentuating the parts of the story / composition that matter.

However, you have got me thinking about an idea for Boards. Might potentially be cool if boards had a post processing thread - where people post styles of images they like / want to know more about, and people respond with similar images they have created - and describe (broadly) how the style was edited (whether film / digital). Would be a good way to learn about different styles quickly.
