Bees in a windy area

I live in a fairly windy area in West Kerry, and am interested in putting in a few hives. There aren't a lot of windbreaks on the property, no significant trees. Should I build a wall or block of some sort around the hive, with one side open for the bees to travel? Will they flourish in such an environment? I hear and see them around, the adjoining neighbor had a hive but 'the bees disappeared' after a year and his yard has some fairly thick shrubs blocking the wind.

    Suggestions welcome, thanks!

Ive seen an apiary that was ringed by fast growing willow species interwoven into a wall to break the wind, seems like a good idea to me. (With the added benefit of more pollen for the bees.)

You had a good reply from Satrile great idea. You could erect a windbreak using some small round posts & the green plastic mesh, It would be a quick solution. You could have a chat with the Healy Rays & you might get a grant lots of luck
