    Yes, I think so. Up to recently, computer security was the focus of a minority of people - be they subscribers to this topic or listeners to Steve Gibson's podcast with Leo, Paul's Security Weekly etc.

    Incidents such as Snowden and Apple/FBI have moved it up to the front page for 'ordinary people', especially as regards mobile security.

    I agree with Impetus here. My brother who lives near New York says that most of the news channels when they talk about it are taking the FBI's point of view, often with no discussion at all with security bods to highlight what could go wrong when this particular pandoras box is opened.

    Something like this highlights in an amusing way the pitfalls and hopefully it will get he message out to more Americans what they are at risk of.
