Disappointing 75 from Shane today. Not his week, it seems. But a nice 70 from GMac has moved him up the leaderboard.

If current form continues, it will be very close between Shane and Graeme for the second slot on the Irish team for the Olympics.

I think the top 15 in the rankings qualify automatically so unless Rory gets injured I assume that means we will have 3 spots at the Olympics and if Shane gets into the top 15 (currently 23rd) we may even have 4? Is that how it works?

If a country has a player in the top 15, that counts towards their 2 slots in the Olympics. The only way a country can have more than 2 players at the Olympics is if they are all in the top 15, in which case you are allowed up to 4 representatives.

So top 15 does not guarantee participation in the Olympics, although it's only players from the States who are likely to be affected by this.

I think we are assuming he has - certainly I am. Didn't himself and Shane Lowry represent Ireland in something in Australia a few years ago? That would mean he is declared for Irleand surely.

Graeme McDowell declared for Ireland over two years ago.

Really looking forward to seeing Rory this evening. Saw his full round on Friday and thought he was as good as I've seen him since before the injury. Missed all the golf yesterday but seemed like it was another good day for him. Things are really shaping up well for Augusta when you look at this leaderboard!

Nothing more embarrassing than trying to make America great again when it's already great. You'd need to know that that's a time to make it greater.

And of course there's the whole geographical issue that has the Canadians and South Americans getting annoyed about their relative greatness in the whole scheme of things American.
