I got delivered a parcel to my parents address from China around the start of January and knew it would incur custom charges. Was back home today and parents gave me three letters. The original amount on custom charges was 52 and now this control account PLC crowd are looking for 110 euro. I have no problem paying the 52 as I forgot about it.

I Contacted control account and they wouldn't budge on the 110 mark and said I'll pay the 52 now but wouldnt budge on the 110. I've told them to send on the legality of this in Ireland and will be getting a solicitor to check out the charges.

Anyone deal with crap like this b4? What is the legality of this?

Who/what entity referred the collection of the debt to the debt collectors?

Forgot to mention they said the extra charges were for administration. They put my account on hold apparantly while they send me out the details.

Pay the €52.00 to Fedex and ask them to call off the vultures.

As far as I know debt collectors are powerless in this country and only try to frighten people to pay. Ignore them.

Also was it not Fedex's responsibility to collect the taxes prior to delivery?
