Finally, I knew a classical education would come in handy eventually.
Alexander the Great travelled far and wide in his many conquests, through Mesopotamia, Parthia, Bucephala and as far as the Himalaya at one point

Sometime around 330 BC he opined that you need to keep one hand free in the jungle, in order to wield a Kopis (similar to a modern day machete).

Obviously all that jungle clearing was extremely physically taxing, requiring rehydration and a lot of fatty snacks.
The men became quite attached to their Kopis and were loathe to put it down, this then ruled out Alexander's personal favourite snack - King cheese and onion crisps.
So, while in the jungle of Margiana, Alexander was forced to find a local alternative - a local witch doctor suggested the Lion bar.

Therefore, in his own inimitable style, he declared - the lion is the king in the jungle. This is often misquoted as - the lion is the king of the jungle

    Thanks......I think.

All I can say in reply is, people who live in grass houses, shouldn't stow thrones.

    so there:)

TA at people who don't dress their kids in clothes, appropriate for really cold winter. Over the weekend, I must have seen 4 or 5 little girls, dressed up in their Princess Whatsherface from Frozen dresses. Dresses that made from the cheapest of cheap, paper thin satin. Absolutely zero warmth in them.

But there they were, out and about in the garden centres and shopping centres. No doubt, they all went into school on Monday morning, with roaring head colds and God knows what else......infecting their teachers and other kids, who then pass their doses onto their parents and siblings. It's very irresponsible and selfish imo.

I have a sister who is a single parent to two young kids. If she catches a dose from them, it's sheer misery just going thru the daily grind, all on her own, with no help from anyone. And all because some selfish twat can't say no to his or her little darling, who wants to be a Princess for the day !

PUT SOME PROPER CLOTHES ON YOUR CHILDREN PEOPLE. IT'S FEBRUARY FFS !!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

wondering if you have ever tried to make little girls wear what YOU want them to in a hurry? More than TA ...and colds are from germs not being cold?

This thread has gotten too chatty lately.
This thread has gotten too bloggy lately.
This thread has some some borderline medical/health advice creeping into it.

This is a place to list your annoyances rather that blog what you are doing day to day and chatting about it. Chat threads are not allowed in AH.
Lets keep the the 'TA's', for example, that Boom_Bap is a stickler for the rulez.

    Thank you.

It's constantly mistaken for a "vent about your day every day" or a "have a never-ending chat" thread. People should go and start those threads if they want them though? :)

Oh I'm not used to it at all. Once upon a time I had to get up at 6am and wouldn't be home until 9pm :( Horrible.

On the upside I'll be finished at 2 :D

The Windows shutdown sound is very similar to the opening note of Carly Simon's Nobody Does it Better.

Every evening I go out of work singing that song and can't get it out of my head all the way home. Every evening. It's still stuck in there now.

Ryanair bing-bong sounds like the home alone music too. I always end up whistling the 'next bit'

My fire has the sitting room toasty and my heater has the bedroom lovely and warm but to get from one to the other I have to go through my hall which stays at approximately -12℃ no matter what I do.
Its the same every night but for some reason tonight the thought of it is really annoying me. Why won't it just heat up like the rest of the house? There's a radiator in it but the heat just... Disappeares. :(

Ah I'd never remember to do that every evening. And it would remain muted when I boot it the next morning, right? So I'd spend a good hour panicking that my audio has disappeared before I finally remember what I've done, because A) I'm quite stupid and B) I don't fully function before 10am.
