Couldn't give a damn about last night's result because as i've said all along we are never strong enough to win the CL.

I am beginning to feel that we won't win the league either. We are firing far too many blanks and also gifting goals to the opposition. I just don't believe we have the mentality to get enough points from so many difficult upcoming games. We may get the odd result but we're not consistent enough. You have to perform well for the entire 90 minutes and we seem to switch off at times in our games and it costs us. Not scoring in 5 of our last 8 games is not going to win us anything either.

That will change as the chances are being created. In fact I'm confident that Giroud will score on Sunday. I'll even put money on it if he's in the starting line-up.

I know it's been said numerous times, but we still have a soft centre. The lack of belief in front of goal last night was tangible.

I see a lot of people are back to questioning Giroud's standing again. I do agree with a few people here saying that we need someone better. Unfortunately Strikers are pretty hard to find these days without going overboard on the spending front.

But one thing i believe needs mentioning is why Giroud's form has dropped. Pretty much every year Giroud hits a run of games where he can't do anything right. He'll miss chances, passes and be practically useless. The only thing i can put it down to is being overplayed. We literally don't have another out & out striker in the team. Theo and Danny are wingers that have been converted and have had to alter their game to fit in.

Who we could sign i don't know.. Someone clinical in front of goal would be best. We will always create chances for our strikers so we need a forward whose best attribute is finishing them.

Is Welbeck not a striker that was shunted out on to the wing? Not the other way around?

Always remember some united fans complaining that he was out of position on the wing but I could be wrong.

Always thought he was originally a winger and then moved to a striker.
The fact that we're not sure says a lot.

Funny, we were going to push on this year compared to most because we got injuries out of the way early. But now the players who weren't injured are tired :p

Ya know me. I'm the positive type... I think playing these games against sheer quality that Barca posess, will help sharpen our players for the run in. Which let's face it, is our main goal. We were never going to win the UCL with our present squad, I can't see how anyone would think that.

What we need is to push on now, win a few championships and then press to the higher level. Maybe AW won't be the man for that. Arguably the best team to ever represent Arsenal couldn't do it (Invincibles era) and the final in 06 was our best chance, as we all know. I just have to agree with whoever it was said it, that AW doesn't have the mind or skill set to win one.

Don't forget they ran around a lot last night. Not sure professional athletes are able to recover in 5 days for the united match. Definitely expect them to be 'tired' then.

I've been off work on long term leave recently (ended up with diabetes, the bitch) so had plenty of time to watch Arsenal DVDs. The review of the Invincibles season was both brilliant and sad to watch. I know they were a once in a generation team but we really are so far removed from them its hard to believe. Pace, power, height, strength, fear. All that is gone with the current XI. Its sad to see.
    Get well soon.

So it sounds like the ox could have a pretty bad injury, having left the stadium on crutches on Tuesday. I was actually surprised he played on after he collided with Mascherano. Looked bad on the slo-mo.

I agree with Gunnerblog's view on how we should line up:

@gunnerblog: If Ox is out for any length of time, I'd go for Welbeck over Walcott on the right. Then when Santi's back shift Ramsey back there.

    https://twitter.com/gunnerblog/status/702637281757274113

I would even consider Welbeck down the left and Alexis on the right, just as a way of killing his habit of cutting in from the left. It's got way too predictable.

I was happy to see them win. Pellegrini will surely focus on Champions League now and hopefully to the continued detriment of their PL challenge.
He has won the title and would love to be able to walk out of there having won the Champions League when Pep was the one who was supposed to take them to the next level.
That said, I dont think they have too much chance.

I don't agree with you, but even if I did who plays there apart from Ramsey? There is no one. Santi is out, So is Wilshere, Rosicky or even the Ox. I wouldn't be playing Flamini, Arteta or Elneny either.

Look at any of our best runs over the last few years. Ramsey has been a key part of this.

    I'll assume you're joking, though.

If you're going from that angle then he was part of our worst run this season.

Where he was playing in his favoured position.

    So was Cech?

Name rubbish players that have been involved in our good runs, and I'll see your point.

Drop Ramsey? I know everyone's entitled to an opinion and all but ****ing hell. Even with a full squad I'd question it, right now however the only players who can play instead of him are Flamini and Elneny, do people even think before they spout this ****?

    Cazola of course!

my reply was that someone said someone else except ramsey must make way for cazola when infact its ramsey that should make way.

i would probably even sell him in the summer as he is average.

Look how many times he lost the ball! he cant pass for ****. awful ball retention and doesnt have the goals to boot anymore either.

Not good enough for this level

    question what?

ramsey is poor! wtf is wrong with some of u!

Our Mids would be cazola, coq and ozil if we have everyone fit.

now tell me, who would you replace ramsey with on that lineup?

And no, ramsey aint going nowhere near our front 3 as we need giruoud sanchez and either ox/wellbeck/wallcott on the other side.

Maybe ramsey can play cb? LOL so please tell me where ramsey would fit on a full strength side?

Well he played Ramsey on the right side of midfield when we were flying in September and October in the league before Cazorla and Coquelin got injured.

Ramsey was tucking in a bit and helping out the centre while Bellerin bombed down the wing. It may not have been perfectly balanced but it was working when we were whupping the likes of Leicester and Man Utd.

Cazorla has great control, and makes a lot of key passes. He also has several weaknesses.

Ramsey offers a lot of things that Santi doesn't, and his passing completion rate is 86%.

I have no idea why Ramsey is so divisive. I'm not even a huge fan, but I constantly find myself defending him. If you look at comments on twitter after any given match, you will have some comments saying he was best on the pitch and others saying he was the worst. It's bizarre.

People fail to see that Ramsey is one of the reasons Santi looked so good....always offering an option.

I know Ramsey prefers the middle, but I think he needs to go back on the flank with Bellerin wrapping around.

So in a nutshell, if we play ramsey in RM instead of ox/walcott/wellbeck we be fine?

he has no place in the middle when coq santi and ozil are fit.
