Presumably they get less money for wrapped or insulated metals?

VIR or insulated copper wire is usually worth roughly 3 times less than raw copper. So if the going rate is £3k a ton, VIR is worth approx £1 k a ton

The way to know for sure is to ask the yards as the prices fluctuate every day

I was quoted €0 per ton for steel today, delivered to a Midlands waste company

It's bleedin £70 per ton in the UK right now

What's the latest on scrap metal prices? Is steel still very low or has there been any increase?

Steel is far better than what it was at the last post of this thread but ask your local scrap merchants as places differ, often substantially.

Our local ELV gives half of what another somewhat local yard gives per ton for example

Got 145 per tonne for first load and then 135 for the next load in case anyone is interested (in Cork).
