motherf***in' Voodoo 3's

What's the deal with Voodoo 3's and Q3?
No-one I know with a Voodoo 3 3000 can get them to work properly all the time with Q3, but the 2000's work grand. I've got a P 233 MMX, 80 Megs RAM, Voodoo 3 3000 PCI and more than enough HD space. I've tried every Voodoo 3 driver i could find, the only one actually working being the GLSetup ones on the Q3 disc. But if i try to change any video or audio settings, or even quit the game, I get a blank screen and have to reboot. The framerate's $hite, so I have to turn down the graphics a bit (which I can't do in the game, QED) but if i do that through the cfg, the game wont even load.

    Any suggestions boyos?

Get the Wicked 3D mini GL driver yoke.

    You probably need a faster CPU, I know I couldnt play q3 with a 233 smile.gif

So the topic should read "motherf***in' 233's"

The most recent driver from 3dfx was in December. I presume you've tried that.

I managed to play the Q3 demo on my plain old P200/64mb RAM with an 8mb Voodoo2. It was sh!te, but it worked.

Aye that problem STILL exists with V3 3000s ! Its just that the OpenGL driver support from 3dfx is cack. WickedGL will help so long as its an intel based board! The V3 doesnt seem to get a good fps in quake 3 anyway no matter what ! I had AMDK6-2 450,192MB RAM,V3 3000 AGP,SB LIVE! etc and only managed to get between 25 - 50 fps when playing ! I changed to a TNT2Ultra and get bout 30 - 60 fps !! I think ALI chipsets and AMDs with these new grpahics cards arent a very good combo sad.gif

I have a v3 3000 and it works perfectly with q3, no aggro at all. I downloaded the wicked 3d driver, and get over 60fps steady in q3, never had any trouble with it.

Check www.upsetchaps.com , in the public library section, if you haven't already, they have an excellent connection and fps guide there, plus a link for the wicked GL.

All the machines in Nethouse run Voodoo 3 3000's and there is no hassle with it...
Well except that sum of the cards actually burnt out..hmmm
But that woz a Gateway thing....
The Dell machines run Q3 with just the standard drivers that came with the machines.
    So dunno....
