I'm using the plan thats in the Rough Guide to Running book albeit somewhat loosely, I hate sticking rigidly to plans. Although I will stick rigidly to the LSRs on the plan as they seem to be the single most important element of marathon training. I had a look at the P&D plan, but it is VERY heavy on mileage.

13.1 miles today tackled that same hill last Friday again with more success, I'm quite happy so I am, pace = 10:05/mile, but that time was very much skewed by the incredibly fast downhill splits, probably on average it was something closer to 10:20 or that. So that finishes out this weeks training, since I hit such a relatively high mileage since last Sunday I am going to take Saturday and Sunday off (listen to your body and all that). So this weeks mileage works out at 44 miles, another increase of six miles and another LSR done. I'm quite happy once again.

well i took a slightly longer break owing to a touch of illness/manflu over the weekend, and it actually wasnt self inflicted for once! so today i did a bit of grass running round all the pitches today, one of the lads noticed that i have a very heavy heelstrike and said i should do more of my training on grass. So today I managed 8 miles at 10:04/mile. My pace does suffer on the grass as its more difficult for me to run on.

I did 5 miles today @ 9:20/mile pace, happy out.

Can't believe this thread was four years ago, I'm full of enthusiasm now for the new year. I'm running the Waterford half marathon tomorrow but it will be a very slow one as I've put on quite a lot of weight over christmas and plan not to race it really.

I've two races planned after that:

    St Paul's parish 5 mile - January 24th
    Anne Valley 5 mile - February 6th

    More updates to follow!

2 hrs 12 mins today in the waterford half marathon, I'm very happy all things considered but it was still half an hour slower than my pb. Well it's time to push on with my training and weight loss. 5 mile race on the 24th to train for.

No running today with a half marathon yesterday, I just went for a nice walk this morning, my legs are a bit sore but I'm not carrying niggles by any means. I'll see if the legs are up to something small tomorrow

This slipped my mind completely! I did the St. Paul's 5 miles in 42:55, I was quite happy considering it's on the back of three weeks of training. I plan on doing the Anne Valley 5 miler but I may need a lift out there so I'm gonna appeal to any kind hearted who's driving out from waterford for a lift! No training done yesterday we'll see what happens today :)

The weather was horrific so I did 30 minutes on the crosstrainer and 30 minutes on the bike. It cleared up today so I did 6 miles 10:02 min/miles, happy enough with that

    Hello,
As you resurrected the log I just read it. Missing out on updates such as current PB's, targets and did you do sub 4 in Conn????

Hi, it was remiss of me not to post updates on everything that I've done in the last four years! Basically illness hampered me training for the Conn full and I changed my entry to a half, I think the time was 1:54 or something similar. I've knocked a reasonable amount of time off some of my pbs. For example I did the Cork half in 2014 in 1:41 and a 10k in 46:01. My 10 mile and 5k pbs have remain unchanged. I did the 2012 DCM in 4:35 also. I probably haven't trained consistently to full potential, thus resurrecting this thread to motivate me.

I took a day off yesterday, the weather was miserable and I felt quite groggy. Today I did 7 miles at 10:04 min/miles
