Advice on watch

Mrs Boobar wants to treat me to a watch for Xmas.

I'd say the budget would be around 150.

Any suggestions?

It's a gents watch I'm interested in. I'd like something that I could wear with a suit, not so keen on leather straps.

I like the look of Seikos, Argos have good offers on them at the moment.

Seiko Kinetic

I'm open to suggestions though, just want something that's good value and looks well.

Yeah, you can't beat a Seiko or Orient for that price range. That one looks really nice, and a kinetic movement too. I don't think you can go wrong with that.

I do love Seiko. Fantastic brand IMH. As E says you really can't beat them. And not just at that price range either.

Jebus,

Argos must have spotted the positive feedback this watch was getting on boards...so they slap another 40 quid on it over night.

So back to the drawing board, anyone got any recommendations for a dressy gents timepiece that's in budget - 150 or less?

Just to hijack this thread, as it has an appropriate title...

I have an old watch here... a quartz. The watch has stopped and I was going to change the battery. I find I don´t wear it enough, as it just has the strap on that it had when I bought it..
its a thin strap. Its a small watch.. .any ideas what strap to buy it to give it more life and make me want to wear it...
the watch is about 34mm across...

I think the watch lugs are too close together , thats the problem...
I`ll take it out tonight and do some proper measuring and put up a photo...
the watch itself is lovely, black and gold.. in case the previous picture didn´t do it justice or people are distracted by the arm hair... it certainly surprised me..

not worried about budget... I'd like to buy a strap that makes the watch look bigger or at least can have a wider strap than I currently have... is that even possible? The strap widens after the lugs?

You could buy a leather one 2mm wider and trim it down yourself, it protects the ends of the lugs too. Probably better looking if it tapers towards the buckle.
