    ODK products.
Very highly rated in the detailing scene.
I have only used one of their products which was on my silver vRS and I really did like the job it did.

    ** EDIT **
The product I used was the Sterling. Beautiful wax to use and has a lovely finish.

    20160111_104048_zpsbyyltoug.jpg

    The Wax Range
Empire - ODK's entry level wax - nice optical and reflective finish, giving a nice glow on darker colours
Sterling - Best suited to lighter colours with metallic flake - really makes the metallic flake pop
Glamour - ODK's Show stopper - this one gives the WOW factor - great on all colours - was 9 months in the making; tweaking and perfecting
Concours - The all round performer - 10 months in the making - high gloss finish, metallic flake pop, and good durability to boot!

    The Maintenance Products
Entourage - the quick detailer - extremely versatile – paint, glass, exterior and interior trim - cleans and protects, leaving a very glossy finish along with 4 weeks protection
Jet - high concentrated pH neutral shampoo that has great cleaning ability as well as high lubrication; straight up shampoo, no gloss enhancers
Artic - highly concentrated pH neutral snow foam, it breaks down dirt and grime whilst not effecting any wax, sealants or coatings that are already protecting the paintwork

    Jet and Concours look good

So many new companies and products out there at the moment, it's hard to know what's good and what's not.
At least with Detailing Shed they get products that do work and usually work well.
Quick Detailers are usually the product i use most of. Might have to try out this one :)

How will these products impact on the coating you applied to the Passat?

Do you plan on using these products on your car or you just highlighting products from Detailing Shed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

If he applies any of the waxes or QD on top of his current coating, he will be taking away the coatings ability to keep the car clean and wash; they may enhance the finish though. Give with one hand and take with the other.

I assume he is pointing out that a range he has used a product from in the past, and must have been happy with, is now available in Ireland?
    Which product did you use?

There'd be no need for asumptions i'd say?

It seems entirely legitimate. He used one of their products years ago and decided he better post an entire thread outlining the entire product range, it's uses and most importantly, where to buy it...

... because he used one of the products a while back.

Well the post appeared on other forum he uses...I DID NOT request that he post it....so I am assuming, as I do not have any other explanation.

Why wouldn't he or someone else do it every time a new product or product range appeared on said website, if I were requesting someone post something for me.

well whether the owner of Detailingshed requested it or not, the OP should be aware that the owner of Detailingshed is a regular contributor to this forum and that posts like these can create what could be seen by some as a conflict of interests.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Perhaps....but given your concern on the matter, you've done a fine job of highlighting who the owner might be, for those that don't know already!

Don't know what your beef is with me; but perhaps you are trying to get at vectra seeing as you two have pervious!

If the thread erks you so much, the correct action is to report it, not to bump it to the top!

Actually only used it last year.
Saw that Detailing shed are now stocking it on another forum I use and took it upon myself to inform members here that is was now available in Ireland and that it was a very nice proiduct to use.
The maker of these products are as I already said very highly regarded.

    Butt hen again
Some members appreciate being informed or helped on this forum. Others choose to try derail them.

Whichever members choose. It is up to them.

I really don't see the problem here, Curran gives so much time explaining and helping people here i nearly think it's actually needed!

Everyone has their regulars, it's not going to send anyone to one place or another.

Not having a go at anyone and not back seat modding thats not my way in life so nobody take offence with post:o

If you look through a lot of my posts lately i could be seen me as doing the same for D+D detailing in Cork thats just my experiences with dealing with those lads and i highly recommend them

I saw the new range on fb yesterday and i wanted to start a new thread re the products but instead of asking questions through fb i said boards would be better at least on here somebody else might read the posts and learn from it also(But vectra beat me and started this thread)

Think the problem might lie with Ireland being so small and if you want good quality products for car care two companies stand out and are recommended every time

    1.Detailing Shed
    2.D+D DetailingCork

In this case its detailing shed next week it might be a special offer on a polisher with d+d

Dont think vectra meant anything by starting this thread if you want good quality products your options are some what limited in Ireland

if you feel im totally wrong feel free to report this post to a mod:)

I have to say that I do see the problem. It's not as if most people who read the forum regularly are oblivious as to who the owner of detailingshed is. The first thought that came to my mind when I saw the thread was that it was blatant advertising. I'm not saying Curran had anything to do with it at all (even though it may not have been wise to thank the post) but at the very least it smacks of naïveté on the part of the OP.

I thinks yee are all a great bunch of lads.....

    What's the beef.....

    http://www.boards.ie/content/terms/
We expect you to act responsibly in posting Material on Boards.ie. You agree, through use of this service, NOT to use boards.ie to:

post any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional content...
You must seek permission from Boards.ie Limited before carrying out any commercial activity on boards.ie. Any person or company attempting to advertise or otherwise promote themselves who has not been authorised by us will have their user accounts banned and their posts deleted.

me, personally, i'm not interested in reporting it, others might be; but for the less seasoned user, it's nice for things to be a little more transparent and for folks to be aware that this particular review may not be 100% unbiased.

the product is so good, he doesn't use it anymore. it's the weirdest "review" i've ever seen.

i'd hate to see someone, less experienced etc rush out to pick up these nice bits because they see a regular, well respected member of the detailing forum suggesting them and therefore assume that the recommendation was through experience and satisfaction with the product rather that through the OP being acquainted with Detailingshed or it's owner.

    is that not fair?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭YbFocus

TFB why the wild hate here?

I bought my kit off of DnD and was talking about it for days in the chat thread and really talking them up etc.

We know vectra is a customer of the place in question, he is only passing word on good stuff that looks very well priced!

He seen it on Facebook i reckon, that's where i seen it.

Maybe i have not been around long and am missing some info?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

no hate, none whatsoever. i have a great respect for this (greater) forum and it's posters, "a great bunch of lads" as Fr. Ted would say. i won't bate around the bush or be accused of derailing another thread, but leave you with what i said in my last post :).

like i can honestly say i've never felt the need to start a thread plugging a full product range i'd never used, nor have no intention of using, that i have no association with and yet call out a specific supplier of that product. why would a person do that, ask yourself?

I get you man but i see a guy trying to show that a company in Ireland is now supplying product that he used to use. It's good stuff at a good price.
From what i see vectra is buying the dearest tack going so this doesn't interest him.

He was pointing it out to the simpler lads like me :)

Show me where the owner of Detailing Shed has advertised or promoted their business...it's not their fault should someone else provide links based on someone asking where X product is available.

There are plenty of other forum on this site that people post offering advice based on their experience from working within their given field...and it's usually appreciated.
If for example you were having problems hanging a TV and you posted a post in the DIY forum and a Handy man replied, you'd be quite thankful. If a 2nd home DIY'er replied offering you a different approach, great....and a 3rd a new approach saying use picture hooks, not so good but appreciate the gesture of trying to help....you are entitled to accept the one that best suits you...or a bit from all 3 opinions. Nobody holds a gun to your head and says you must follow #3's approach....you take the advice from whom ever you feel might be talking the most sense! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Vectra has moved on with the detailing scene as he follows advancement quiet closely....he offered his opinion on a range he used previously for the posters benefit. 7 users found it helpful judging by the thanked post

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,672 ✭✭✭✭vectra

    Well,
I suppose I am guilty as chrged by Toyotafanboy.

Yes, I did in fact post the said products to ket other members know such products are now available here.
I am also guilty of not using ODK products now.
But why not? Well, As Curran pointed out above, Basically I don't need anything over my current product.
    Why would I?

    Also
I think I should admit to being totally guilty to recommendint the following to members on here

Brian at Spirit detailing. >> Never used his detailing services but I know from witnessing some of his work he is a legend.

Cleancar.ie ( RIP ).. Very regularly recommended and suggested roducts they stocked .. ie.
Wolfs Chemicals Nano products. I was probably one of the first people in this country to use Bodywrap..Do I still use it? No
Would I recommend Wolfs products? Of course

D&D Detailing? I am personal friends with both Darrens since they first started up.
Do I get on with them? Of course I do.. Have I ever recommended them? Most certainly.

There are probably more occasions and products I have recommended on here but my mind slips for now.

I can only come to one or two conclusions here.

    1) Toyotafanboy doing his usual ( Hate Vectra ) act and try to mess up any post I make

    2) Toyotafanboy Has Beef with Detailingshed.

and to answer a question above by a poster.
Will I be using some of these products?
    Not for now.
I need to give the Carpro stuff time to run its course.

Will use it in the future?
Why not. I have used numerous products of differing ranges and will continue to do the same.

I'm not sure how true this is but I heard that Detailing Shed is owned by Skynet and they have T-1000's packing the orders. Who knows!

Staying neutral here if i can but reading this whole thread this is my grasp of things and my view

Vectra:Like me and others like yb focus saw the new range on face book and decided to start a thread quoting his own experience with the products

Toyotafanboi totally right in his view and highlighting it to others who are new to the forum

    Curran: Stuck in the middle

If this thread had been posted in the detailing chat thread it would never have caused this debate.

Everyone has their own view on it and all can be seen as being right

best thing everyone can do is agree to disagree:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Perhaps some good folks could post their findings after they've used some of the ODK goodies.

That'd be a good use for this thread.

    True

I did use ODK Sterling last year on my silver car which apparently Sterling is more suited to metallic paint.

    Did the ususal, 2bm wash
    clay
    wash
    rinse

    Apply Sterling as per instructioins.

My findings were , Went on like butter, simple simple to spread, and basically wipes off once flashed, Left a crystal clear finish on the paint with very good gloss level and a nice slick feel to the paint.
Smells like you could lick the pot contents as well :pac:

    As for Durability?
I did not really take note as last year was more or less a testing time for me to decide on new products for the Passat,
I did get possibly 6 weeks out of it before I stripped it back again and applied Fusso to the car for the new owner.
Would I use ODK products again? Certainly.

Vectra I've no issue with your thread and I appreciate you highlighting new products, thank you.

Any detailingshed recommendations on this forum are 120% well deserved as Curran takes so much time helping people out and contributing. And the fact that he runs a fantastic business also helps, which ive just loads :)
