    Hi All

    Thinking of flying to Australia later in the year. I am a BA Bronze Executive Club member.

    With the flights/times/destinations that I want, one of the cheapest business class options is with Qantas, who are a BA OneWorld partner. However, the flights are "operated by Emirates", which is lovely, but will I get the points as I booked Qantas??

    Probably not unless its a codeshare flight. I flew to NZ last year and didn't get points for the air new Zealand portion even though I had booked through a one world airline.

    You will earn Avios and Tier Points as long as it's a QF flight number on your ticket.

    Qantas (QF)

    Including QantasLink (QF) and Jetconnect (QF)

    Executive Club Members can collect Avios on the following flights:

    flights marketed and operated by Qantas or Qantas Airlines affiliates under the QF designated code
    flights marketed by Qantas but operated by Jetstar booked as oneworld fare in L class only
    flights marketed by Qantas or Qantas Airlines affiliates and operated by Qantas, a Qantas Affiliate, BA, another oneworld carrier, or another third party under a codeshare agreement

    *Flights booked under the Qantas code (QF) operated by a non-oneworld airline will earn Avios and Tier Points unless operated by Jetstar in a class other than L class.

    Thanks Graham. I kind of didn't understand what they were saying with that link but actually all written out like that it makes more sense!

    How would I know if it's a QF code on my ticket? I saw the flight on Expedia and it's coming up as Qantas, but "operated by Emirates"?

    It would have a Qantas flight number as well as an emirates flight number. Look up the flight number from your ticket and that will tell you.

    Your flights number will either be EKxxx or QFxxxx, what is it showing on Expedia/your booking.

    Fingers crossed it's a QFxxxx flight number ;)

    That's news to me, usually flights come out of a specific bucket. Is that an oddity to the QF/EK JV agreement?

    If I were a betting man, I'd say Qantas, but "operated by Emirates" would suggest it's a Qantas ticket.

    Of course, all this begs the question how will I know BEFORE I book which code is on the ticket... riddles and enigmas :D

    You should be able to see the flight number and times before you book. Then google the flight number.

    If it's QFxxxx it's a Qantas flight.

    If it says: Qantas, but "operated by Emirates" then it's still booking as a Qantas ticket under a Qantas flight number (but operated by Emirates).

    If you haven't booked yet, it appears Qatar have some fantastic fares ex Oslo later this year.

    People are talking about J fares to Aus from GBP£1068 so might be worth the Scandinavian detour to take advantage. Qatar are OneWorld too.
