Sonos Surround Sound Query

    I received a pair of Play 1s as a gift. Looking to setup surround sound with my tv. I'm going to purchase a Playbar to go along with the 1s.

    I was in Arnotts earlier and the salesman said I also needed to purchase the €100 Boost accessory in order to connect all three speakers. Is this correct? Sonos don't mention this on their site. The Boost is available to help increase wireless signal throughout a house where speakers would be in different rooms. As all our speakers will be in one room, is it necessary? Sonos don't have the Boost included in their surround sound kits.

    Previous versions of the sonos firmware required you to use the bridge/boost as the "brains" of the 5.1 I believe that the current one no longer requires this (vague conversation with a Sonos rep when they launched the new play 5v2)

    The boost is a mini router, so removes the sonos equipment from the house WiFi and gives you back there previously used bandwidth.
    If you are using UPC Horizon / Sky Broad Band using an either net cable from it into the bar will eliminate the need for a boost.

    However I would stress if you are looking to add more rooms or the Sub to the house, the boost is going to be a better idea as the load on the primary router increases.
