They could have passenger seats in the ambulance and carry passengers where there's space left or on empty runs back to pick up other patients.

Its very emotive....but the drug is horrendously expensive.
It's pure economics, the Govt cannot afford every new wonder drug for every ailment.

Not what people want to hear, but its the truth

There has to be some ceiling on the cost of treating illnesses.

    what's a BCO?

    Broadcast Co-ordinating Officer.

That's the person who makes sure that nobody who questions Joe's wages ever gets on to the show.

But the HSE does - Maureen has been offered treatment in three other hospitals as her local is too busy. She doesn't fancy the hassle of travelling though. Looks like she'll have to sort it herself now.

You are not wrong. They are still assessing it. All new drugs have to go through an approval process. The campaign going on now is an attempt to blackmail the HSE into approving the drug without the usual checks.
Imagine the hoo hah if they let in a drug which turned out to have horrible unforeseen side-effects.

Right we know what Ray's having for his starter. I'd say your mother in law loves you Ray.
