Do you vape?

    Well, do any AHers vape?

I'm giving vaping serious consideration as I want to kick the ciggies for good and still get my nicotine fix. Even though liquids and batteries are a bit pricey in the long run you save a lot of money that would go towards cigs.

Do you think that vaping indoors is acceptable? A lot of places seem to allow vaping but then quite a lot don't either. There doesn't seem to be a general policy on this unlike the indoor smoking ban.

Gave up smoking about 6 years ago thankfully but if I did still smoke I'd definitely consider vaping. I know nothing about it but I presume it's better than smoking

I started recently and it's amazing how easily I dropped the smokes after a lifelong habit.

I'm not finding it easy to find decent juices though. Haven't found any I'd be happy to hit all day every day.

With the amount of vapour it produces I'd be uncomfortable doing it indoors.

Depends where you are really. I always vape in pubs and haven't been told to stop yet.

The vapour itself doesn't really travel far beyond me at all. Plus it smells like vanilla :)

    Yes.

Then TPD comes in and we're all back on the smokes.

vaping over 3yrs now,def x10 times better then smokes or rolling tobacco-3 chemicals instead of 1000 carcinogenic.

you see a lot of people now with devices in their hands on the streets specially Dublin.

think only couple reasons why it hadnt picked up a lot more, first would be many who buy kit-usually start with really crappy 20e ones and the likes to mimic cig look-when many dont have issues dropping around 50e each week, and then seeing device that costs around 100 and thinking waste of money,or that they cant afford it :pac: given that usually battery lasts +6 months to year or two.

Second related thing is many dont like taste-cant really blame them when atm market is flooded with 1000s different flavors, and if someone picks up some sort of mushed up banana cheesecake cornflake biscuit flavor,or tobbacco that is more like cigar juice then its day or two before that bottle goes into bin and person is on the ciggies again.

Also its a bit more hassle with juices since depending on person top ups are quite frequent, you have leaks and ins/outs to before finding good setup with juice one can vape all day.

As for places its a bit trade off vaping is more time consuming where you might want to sit down and enjoy it,not like cigs 3-5 mins and again 30mins later, that said if having good juice theres no need to go outside,no smell on clothes, inside etc.

All that said once you get used to it,theres no urges like with smoking to go out every so often or to have it on you at all times, also many places dont mind it pubs etc if you keep it low on the clouds, and if being decent to others not vaping in buses or crowded places to treat others with respect to avoid irritating someone no one really cares.

No harm to anyone who vapes but you look ridiculous. Like a kid with some novelty toy with fake smoke. Every time I see someone vaping I think they look really foolish.

Just my opinion...Fair play if it keeps you off the smokes.

I was conscious of that at the start but it's a decent trade off for not having yellow teeth and fingers as well as me, my house and my car not stinking of smoke.

Thanks for that piece of fashion advice mfceiling, is there anything else I should avoid?

I really really loved smoking. I had to give it up though for obvious reasons as I don't want to die of lung cancer and was sick of being short of breath all the time. If I had 'three wishes' though, one of them would be that smoking was harmless. That's how much I enjoyed it.

Now I've found something that I actually enjoy more, has stopped me smoking and I cannot feel any negative effects to do with it. Never out of breath, no smokers cough, no smoking related colds and illnesses, no bad smell...

So no, I won't quit as I enjoy it too much and don't see any reason to :)

TPD = Tiny Penis Disease ?

Were I to spontaneously sprout a tiny penis, I would certainly start smoking again. At least.

It's ok, there are so many other things about my appearance that overshadow the vaping it's not even funny.

    TPD = tobacco product directive.

Basically vaping is going to become so heavily restricted that the most successful devices will be banned.

As to the original question - yes, I vape.

No, not at all. It is completely unacceptable. I don't give a fuck what shit you want to pump your lungs with. Just keep it away from mine.

I wasn't actually replying to your post it was just something I've done myself. I know all about craving a smoke as I smoked myself for 15 years. I gave them up almost 11 years ago and it was really tough. I used to crave a fag so bad I walked after smokers in the street to inhale their second hand smoke. I kept it up though and eventually it got easier. The only way for me was to go complete cold turkey because I'm the type of person that vaping wouldn't work for. I would have to have the real thing and then I'd be back at square one with my pack of 20.
A couple of people I went to school with have died of cancer and that added to my decision to give up. Its been 11 years now since I've smoked and I'm happy about that but it's still tough in social situations especially if I'm nervous or having a drink. It's good the vaping works for you but I know it wouldn't for me.

congrats on going cold turkey :) different things work for different people and tbh once somebody is getting off the smokes, happy days :) over a year since I quit and I couldn't have done it without vaping.
