I wouldn't trust us to even get a result let alone batter them. They were as open as the sea in the Community Shield. We should have tonked them

FFS you are a glass half full man aren't you !!!

Chelsea providing us with a very interesting side show this season and as enjoyable as it is to look on at their season going from bad to worse, we've got Man city next weekend!

I think we should win it. OG to continue his form and bag a brace!

    Is AS back?

So on to Man City on Monday.
Same team as Sunday? If Sanchez is fit does he come in or start on the bench?

Oops I should have read MonsterCookies message above first.
Sanchez is supposed to be in training this week......... I think he will put him straight in but I dont know who will be dropped?
Possibly Theo as Campbell offers more defensively but I hope its the other way around.

If Sanchez was available, I would play him and Campbell. The work rate of the two of them and Ramsey as well would be great to see.

If Theo was fitter I would consider starting him against the City defence, but I don't think he is quite back to full strength/form yet.

I'm loving every second of it.

The hilarity when the camera cuts to Jose and he looks completely clueless as to what's going wrong.

His betrayal comment last night was weird too. He's feeling the pressure big time.

Dropping Giroud when he's in form would be madness but Mangala has the look of a player that Theo would rip apart especially if brought on later in the game.

Delighted to hear the talk of Alexis back in training. Just another option to have. Even with 20 minutes left to bring him on will terrify any defense.

I find it so ironic how people's opinions of Giroud have changed so dramatically over the last few weeks. On the Arsenal Facebook page, lots of the comments were focussed on how Giroud should be out of this team immediately and the likes. Now everyone thinks he's the third coming of Christ! I'm glad a handful of us in here never doubted the talent of Giroud and he's finally getting the goals to back that up.

Meh, praising a player doesn't always equate to fawning. He's playing well lately and getting goals but Walcott has to play somewhere against City.

I like Giroud and think he gets a lot of unwarranted abuse. His goal tallys aren't always consistent and he makes a mess of some good chances that are clickbait for the vine sites. If you watch him however he brings the players around him into the game brilliantly. His hold up play and layoffs are very good and teams need someone like that unless they are Barcelona. Bayern have Lewandowski doing it and Real have Benzema doing it. I wouldn't be saying Giroud is at either of their levels but with the players Arsenal have around him being shorter, quicker, more skillful players there is a lot lost without having someone like Giroud.

In general I wouldn't be in favour of dropping Giroud at all, but if we had say Walcott, Sanchez and Campbell all fit, I would start with them and then bring on Giroud in the second half to get a goal. Giroud has been good off the bench so far this season and if the City defence were worn out after the first half, it could only make things a bit easier for him.

As it stands though, I have no problem with Giroud starting, especially with the form he is in at the moment.

Giroud is a very good striker. He is just a bit too slow but his hold up and connecting play can be world class. I am happy that we have a few options with different skill sets up front.

We have a plan A and a plan B whereas a year ago it seemed that we didn't have a plan at all. Who we play from the outset should be decided by how the opposition is set up and what the initial game plan is. If it doesn't work then we can change the attack to something different.

I still believe that we need to strengthen the front line but the DM position is a priority to fill now.

(Of course I fully expect that at the end of the Jan window we'll have the usual the right player wasn't available and the price wasn't right excuses from Arsene! But I do live in hope that I am wrong!)

What do you reckon would be the right style of player to fill the DM position for Arsenal? Would it be a deep playmaker type like Alonso or Carrick or a more dynamic style of player?

I think someone who wasn't at a great level with regards passing would really hold Arsenal back.

We need someone with Mert's composure and Coq's workrate

    You want a Coqsacher?

I would be sticking GAB in and have him well settled there before Barca come to town
Mertesacker is a better defender than Gabriel, there's no contest there for me yet. If we play a high line, yeah I'd be worried about him but that's not going to happen with Barcelona coming to town. We'll play deep and try to hit them on the counter like we did against Bayern.

Jeysus, poor Danny has really be Arsenaled. Any story as to what's wrong with him?

Yea i feel really bad for him!
Not sure, just says he has suffered a setback and wont return until sometime in February. Arseblog reporting it too, so it seems pretty legit. He'll find it hard to make the Euros now

If there is a silver lining to the Welbeck story, it means that Wenger absolutely has to buy an attacking player in January. This will mean we will have a pretty decent array of attackers available in the tail end of the season.

This is assuming we don't pick up a load more injuries, of course :P

"One possibility is that I did an amazing job last season and brought the players to a level that is not their level and now they can't maintain it," - What a classy manager...And then he asks why he doesn't get the respect Wenger gets....
