Lack of defensive signings coming back to haunt us. Varela and Borthwick Jackson shouldn't be playing in this competition full stop

They are both havin good games

Bringing on Nick Powell still has me totally perplexed.

Beggers believe, Adnan rotting in Germany, James Wilson at Brighton, Perraira. Not to mention the players he let go.

As disappointed as I am, I'm delighted for the Liverpool fans. Huge night for them tonight.

We've been shocking in the CL. Don't deserve to go through to be honest. I'm surprised were as high as we are in the PL.

To be fair we have a ton of injuries at the back.
Most of our defenders were injury prone so LVG should have seen this coming, I know I did. (granted Shaw's injury was nasty but he probably would have got injured anyway)

Think I'm going to take a break from Boards after that

To be fair it took some effort not to qualify out of this group

The club is in some state.

Well that's that. Baffled we even had to come to Germany to qualify. A shambles, can't remember an easier group in an age.

Some positives but overall another disaster. If Van Gaal got the sack tomorrow (which he won't) I don't think I'd care either way.

After spending the money he has spent, to not qualify from that group is an absolute disgrace. LVG has done what he can and so far its not enough.

Fellaini was class. Created loads of chances.

    Embarrassing. Ridiculous bringing on Powell.

I just find it hard to see how LVG can rebuild this team. He has bought dreadful during the summer

Big night in terms of LVG's United tenure I think.

Didn't deserve to get out of the group, a poor group at that.

The two shining lights were Varela and the Johnson lad, both were excellent.

Aside from that nobody can hold their heads up.

More bloody injuries too which is the biggest concern.

..... can't wait to hear the defence of LVG ... how did that donkey Fellaini manage to stay on the pitch... Powell jesus wept..... should have gone to the camera club :(

Shocking performance. To concede so quickly after not one but two goals.....defending is meant to be our strong point. Gutless preformance on a night we needed a competent one.

LVG will take a lot of flack now. There's going to be a lot of calls for his head. Perhaps rightly so at this stage. I'm not strongly on that bandwagon yet. Think there's too many player problems, and a new manager now won't be able to fix that aspect of things mid-season. But I'm not finding much motivation to argue against the usual detractors right now.

Said last night that Ancelotti was playing a smart gaming linking himself to the job yesterday. Would imagine that those rumours are going to go into overdrive now...

    This thread for sure.

I find it hard dealing with the bitching. Even though it's probably deserved.

    Frustrating to read.

Lets here all the excuses, I'm guessing the head in the sand lads will blame it all on injuries and ignore everything else.

LVG had an absolute shocker, some of the most baffling selections I've ever seen.

Be quiet you, it's all about possession and clean sheets, don't you know that?

A joke we couldn't get out of this group.

Very very ordinary team and squad.

Substitutions tonight were absolutely baffling. Powell??? Really?? Surely Ashley young had to come on there.

Such pathetic defending for the corners. Awful marking.

Varela did very well after being thrown in for his debut.
Memphis was much better in second half and that should be his minimum level of performance.

And the injuries again. Team sheet on Saturday should be interesting.

Ultimately the psv ties cost us the game. Should have had at least a draw in psv and we were just pathetic at home.

    It's the end for him.

It may be a long game but he will be gone by the summer.

Bonkers subs tonight even for him.

It's so disappointing. Was so happy to have him take the job but it's gone tits up. The squad management in the summer was awful.
