The other day I purchased a new mattresses for the spare room and as I was dressing the bed I noticed that it was manufactured in Ireland. Have you come across anything that you were surprised that was still manufactured in Ireland.

The narrative is that our economy is too expensive for traditional manufacturing and its all gone to the far east, its all about the hi tec industries in Ireland.

So how come the dominant narrative is that we are too expensive an economy for common or garden manufacturing, which can be done far cheaper in the far east.

believe it or not ireland is one of the leaders when it comes to mining equipment..... Up to a few decades ago, mining equip was big huge and bulky. Three guys decided to put wheels and tracks on them and a whole new industry was born.

    Why would this violate neutrality?

Better not tell the Swedes that they shouldn't be making weapons as they are a neutral country unlike Ireland, which is military non aligned not neutral.
