    I had to get a travel pass today in a town about 25mins away so I had to get someone to bring me there.

    Would it be correct to say that the above is ironic?

    Yes, a fairly mild example of irony.

    Other examples would include:
    Rain on your wedding day.
    A free ride when you've already paid.
    The good advice that you just didn't take.
    Winning the lottery and dying the next day.
    Ten thousand spoons and all you need is a knife.
    Traffic jams when you're already late.
    Meeting the man of your dreams and then his beautiful wife.
