Fairways to house refugees??

Can't post link but check out Talk of the Town. Company that bought the hotel have previously housed refugees in Dublin and Carroll Village and earned over e90 million from 2000 - 2012 from government. Strong chance the hotel will be used for this purpose if the information on Talk of the Town is right.

That's how it sounds alright. They have to be accommodated somewhere and the premises is probably well suited.

I find it funny that there's talk of security fears. From past history of attitudes towards those in Mosney, it's the local people who probably need to be vetted.

If it actually turned out to be temporary before they were resettled then fine. It's a ridiculous idea to leave them all together outside the town indefinitely.

Genuinely don't see an issue with it housing genuine cases. Can't understand the resistance against it personally.

The resistance is very easy to understand. It is down to fear. Fear that the Irish state will do no vetting prior to the arrival of the Syrians in Ireland.

A small number of people would object to any refugees being housed locally. However, the vast majority fear that the state will just dump unvetted people on their doorstep.

As White Horse says, of course there might be resistance, people don't trust the authorities to vet properly... if accurate vetting is even possible... apart from that people are aware that we are importing people from a very different culture with (possibly) very backward ideas.

What a nasty thing to say! Are local people not allowed to have concerns about who may be living near them... o yeah that would make them wasists
