But this thread is like the mafia.... just when you think you're out it reels you back in again...

Also flat out with work so couldn't be arsed wading through said pages of pointless arguments to find some good post to discuss with credible posters...

We'll see how it goes this time

It has been grand the last while actually, apart from today which was weird.
The **** stirrers seem to have left.

Two tones of red in a half-and-half shirt for next season's home kit. Adidas stripes down side of body of shirt like the new Euro 2016 shirts.

Footyheadlines generally right in these things.

Even Ferguson's biggest success was hardly a bastion of morality.

    He's a changed man now

Unfortunatley this is very true. This place has gone to the dogs lately. Its page after page of compulsive arguements between the same few posters who think getting in the last word means they win and that their opinion is the only one that can be right. Shouting down each other is a daily occurence now. Its depressing really and it seems like its perfectly acceptable as it goes completely unattended.

I've been on here a lot less and spending a lot of time on the reddit soccer sub and the red devils sub, both are amazing and put this place to shame.

The few times I've checked in I've had to wade through pages of the most mundane arguments possible :(

Would love to take on Zlatan on a year contract, could have an RVP effect and help us win a league next season, but him and Van Gaal hate each other

I'd say he wants his shot at the English league, Chelsea could be a good bet for his next club

I think he said the other night that he felt he was too old for English football now.

He was asked about it before, said the relationship with Van Gaal would not be a problem, they are both professional.

    Dont see it happening though

Cant imagine he would say that, he strikes me as the person that would say I would succeed in the premier league

I doubt he'd settle for Championship football.

We headed to a training camp in Portugal and, by that time Beenhakker had resigned as director and was replaced by Louis van Gaal. Van Gaal was a pompous ass. He was a little like Co Adriaanse. He wanted to be a dictator, without a hint of a gleam in his eye. As a player, he'd never stood out, but he was revered in the Netherlands because, as a manager, he'd won the Champions League with Ajax and received some medal from the government.

Van Gaal liked to talk about playing systems. He was one of those in the club who referred to the players as numbers. There was a lot of Five goes here and Six goes there, and I was glad when I could avoid him. In Portugal, I couldn't escape. I had to go in for a meeting with van Gaal and Koeman and listen to how they viewed my contribution in the first half of the season. It was like a performance review with grades, the kind of thing they loved at Ajax. I went into an office there and sat down in front of van Gaal and Ronald Koeman. Koeman smiled. Van Gaal looked sullen.

"Zlatan," said Koeman, "you've played brilliantly, but you're only getting an eight. You haven't worked hard enough at the back."

"Okay, fine," I said, wanting to leave.

I liked Koeman, but couldn't cope with van Gaal, and I thought, Great, an eight will do me. Can I have a break now?

"Do you know how to play in defence?" Van Gaal was sticking his oar in, and I could see that Koeman was getting annoyed too.

    "I hope so," I replied.

Then van Gaal started to explain, and, believe me, I'd heard it all before. It was the same old stuff about how Nine—that is, me— defends to the right, while Ten goes to the left, and vice versa, and he drew a bunch of arrows and finished with a really harsh "Do you understand? Do you get all this?," and I took it as an attack.

"You can wake up any of the players at three in the morning," I said, "and ask them how to defend and they'll rattle it off in their sleep: Nine goes here and Ten goes there. We know that stuff, and we know you're the one who came up with it. But I've trained with van Basten, and he thinks otherwise."

    "Excuse me?"

"Van Basten says Number Nine should save his strength for attacking and scoring goals, and, to tell the truth, now I don't know who I should listen to, van Basten – who's a legend – or van Gaal?" I said, putting special emphasis on the name van Gaal, as if he were some completely insignificant figure.

And what do you reckon? Was he happy?

He was fuming. Who should I listen to, a legend or van Gaal? "I've gotta go now," I said, and got out of there

Your first time googling why Zlatan and Van Gaal don't get along I take it? Ibra has some gold in his book actually, though you would wonder how much of it is actually fact, and how much is his interpretation/artistic license. Not just in that scenario either. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall there, even though Ibra was so young, two incredibly huge ego's clashing is almost always fun to watch for the bystander :)

I haven't used these forums before but might be worth a check out.. can ye provide links or pm them??

Totally agree with your points on same circling arguments and shouting each other down. Extremely boring and I've had a word to mods on it but they've said they're not doing anything against the charter. I suggested to someone about 2 months ago they should add someone to their ignore list and got a mod warning.. where's the consistency... I was trying to help the thread along and got that... Its another reason I took a sabbatical from here..

1300 tickets for the Bournemouth away game :(, going to be our smallest away support (apart maybe from Blackpool) in the league in years.

while i appreciate that Robben has injury concerns and is 32, i think he would if he stays fit be a super asset for us for the next 18 months, the guy is class and i believe exactly the type of player we are missing for the Right wing.

we have a huge long term set up - DDG, Smalling, Jones, Shaw, Martial, Depay arent in their prime yet, the likes of Darmian, Rojo, Morgan, Ander are entering their prime and then we have 3 or 4 older players who compliment them, having Robben wouldnt be any harm at all.

or to put it midly, we need short term solutions in the current squad until the long term ones are bedded in and more established.
