    Normally I like to think of myself as a pacifist and all that. But maybe, just maybe, it's time to take the kid gloves off and properly deal with the Caliphate. We always hear about the obscene amounts spent on the military by NATO, Russia etc. Honestly who could object to a proper levelling of these guys?* Imagine the international good will that the "West" could earn by levelling their forces and sending every last Jihadi John to that eternal reward they so desperately seek.

    *I mean of course except the slave states of Qatar, Saudi etc and the ISI in Pakistan who harboured Osama for so many years but their time will come.

    IIRC, they finish early on Wednesday for sports etc and make it up on the Saturday. I could be remembering that wrong though...

    They both had to do much soul searching & adjustment of attitudes. It took a while & we're by no means there yet but generally speaking those who backed "Brits/Taigs Out!" attitudes in the 70s & 80s have either changed their ways or been sidelined by the majority.

    The sad reality is that those who speak loudest will naturally get taken as being a representative voice of those they claim to represent. It took long years of hard work by those within the Republican & Loyalist movements who wanted an end to violence in order to get us to the settlement (however imperfect it may be) we have today in these Islands.

    Similar work will be needed in Islam & there are those within the various sects of the religion who have been prepared to criticise & advocate reform. How succesful they will ultimately be is anyone's guess.

    The biggest downside of Twitter, and social media in general, is that it gives morons a public platform to post rubbish like this:
    France has very tight gun control laws. Maybe if those weren't in place, there would be less deaths in Paris
